4.0 out of 5 stars Another Steele winner!
As an avid Danielle Steele fan for almost 2 decades, I have to admit I haven't been crazy about her latest novels over the last few years. The Wedding seemed like one of Steele's older books, which I say as a terrific compliment. Steele has written a heartwarming novel, that seems very true-to-life, although a little sappy. I read this book in three days, as it was...

3.0 out of 5 stars Much better than her other recent books

The Wedding seemed like one of Steele's older books, which I say as a terrific compliment. Steele has written a heartwarming novel, that seems very true-to-life, although a little sappy. I read this book in three days, as it was very difficult to put down and fully engrossing. For all Danielle Steele love story fans, this is a true winner!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally....one I loved!, April 6, 2000
This review is from: The Wedding (Hardcover)
Well the last Danielle Steele book I read was several years ago. I believe it was the Ranch. I was so upset with the ending that I said no way would I read another DS book. Well, I read the information on the Wedding and got it two days ago and DEVOURED IT! It's great! It was nice to see how the family all related to each other and how they supported each other. So I'm back! DS is for me again!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Wedding, April 20, 2000
This review is from: The Wedding (Hardcover)
I have read every Danielle Steel book and have always enjoyed the characters, the story lines and plots---most of her books are easy to read in a short time while being thoroughly entertaining. In The Weddding, I found it to be a great story with very realistic people with true-to-life stresses even if they're the Hollywood crowd. However, I feel that perhaps the author is beginning to focus on quantity rather than quality in writing her novels. The sentences tend to run together, with too many "and" words, they lack descriptive words and phrases--just becoming a jumble of too many words running together. If you can look past that, the story is entertaining. Perhaps she should take more time, write less novels and concentrate more on her grammar, words and style of writing----the way she wrote in her best novels from years ago. I will, on the other hand, continue to buy and read all her books-----they're an escape from reality of life. And I'll always enjoy that aspect of her writing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Much better than her other recent books, May 1, 2000

After "Irresistible Forces" I vowed not to get another DS book until I read the reviews here first. Well, my husband bought "The Wedding" for me so I read it reluctantly, fearing more of the same. I was glad to find that the story was far more engaging than most of her recent efforts, and in some ways tries to recapture her writing of old. It most closely resembles "Family Album" in tone and theme -- the successful Hollywood family that looks perfect from the outside but has many imperfections within. There are several things in general, however, about DS's writing that I find so irritating as to interfere with my enjoyment of the book -- and I used to LOVE all her books until I started reading Nora Roberts and saw how much better a writer she is (at least in strictly technical terms). DS uses the word "important" no less than 5 times in the first 2 pages to convey to the simple reader that we're dealing with real Hollywood heavyweights here -- OK, we GET IT! Allegra's father, the famous producer, is not accidentally named "Steinberg" (Spielberg, get it?)and her mother's sitcom is not called "Buddies" ("Friends", anyone?) for no reason. I wish sometimes she would be less lazy in her storytelling and rely less on famous names to get her point across. And if I have to read yet again about how beautiful the main character is (in this case Allegra) but how "completely unaware" of it she is, I'll toss the book out the window. That said, the meeting and romance of Allegra and Jeff is one of the best things DS has written in a long time, and she did a fairly good job writing about all the hassles of having a modern-day wedding. She's back on the right track!

5.0 out of 5 stars Danielle Steel is Back at her Best!, July 7, 2000
This review is from: The Wedding (Hardcover)
I am a big Danielle Steel fan and buy her hardback books as soon as they come out. However, I have been very disappointed in the last 3 or 4 books as they were not very interesting. I had decided not to buy "The Wedding" but read reviews on Amazon.com which said that it was great, like the old Danielle Steel writing, so I bought it and thoroughly enjoyed it. I then went out and bought "The House on Hope Street" which I am halfway through and thoroughly enjoying. She's back at her best, and I'm so happy!

Written in a way that we know and love. I couldn't put it down; unlike Irresistable Forces, I cared about these people, you will enjoy this one!

I just finished The Wedding and it was excellent! I couldn't put the book down. I thought the characters were really life like and I found myself almost brought to tears when I found out what Sam and Jimmy had done. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone!

Although this book starts out a little slow it gains speed and stays going the rest of the way. The characters are interesting and they have real life problems. I agree with the other review that this is like one of Danielle Steel's older books. Some people might not like the Hollywood aspect of the book and complain that it's too make believe but isn't that what fiction is all about? To get away from everything? If you've read at least one Danielle Steel book and liked it,I guarantee you'll love this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars My last DS book, October 21, 2001

I had to write a review of this book because I am appalled that writing this bad can get through the editing and publishing process. The main character Allegra was so unbelievable, I really didn't care if she got married or not. I got so tired of hearing how beautiful she was (and didn't even realize it), her body was perfect despite no exercise and eating whatever she wants. This goes the same for all the members of her family, c'mon DS let's join the real world please!!!
