Julie Rogers was not only gorgeous, she was blessed with a wonderful voice: one of these voices that radiate joy and warmth, able to belt and at the same time whisper. This great vocalist who had several big hits in the 60ies should not be categorized as a pop singer, although it seems. This CD does well justice to her, for it presents a very good choice of classic standards superbly performed by her. Her rendition of "A House Is Not A Home" is just splendid. Get this CD and become an unconditional fan of the divine Julie Rogers (if you like Michele Lee, you should!). In this era of singing nullity and (...) voices, it's time to (re)discover what quality means!

Julie had an enormous worldwide hit in 1964 with The wedding (a translation of La Novia, an Argentinean song), and also had a couple of other lesser hits - Like a child and Hawaiian wedding song.

Some of the songs on this collection are covers of songs from a much earlier era, including Love letters, Something's gotta give, But not for me and It's magic - all from the forties or earlier. Other songs were contemporary, including a couple of Bacharach and David songs (A house is not a home and The love of a boy).

Julie's spell in the limelight was brief, perhaps because her style of music belonged to an earlier era, even if some of the songs were contemporary This collection provides a wonderful selection of her music.
