I am a classical guitarist (with both my Bachelors and Masters in guitar performance), and I do a bit of wedding gigging. I bought this book (without looking at it) thinking it would be convenient to have all my wedding repertoire in one easy place. I was wrong. I will never use this book. Here are the problems I have with it:
1) they left out the 2 most requested wedding pieces: Canon and D, and Bach's Air on the g string. I'm not saying that these pieces aren't very overplayed, but the fact is, if you are playing weddings you will be asked to play them.
2) the arrangements are awkward and unmusical. I am a very experienced player and was expecting music that I could read once and have it down. not the case (some are sightread-able, others are more effort that any player should have to put in for this sort of gigging). if they sounded decent, it might be worth the trouble to take the time to practice them, but they don't.
3) MOST OF THE PIECES IN THIS BOOK HAVE PAGE TURNS!! like I said, I was hoping to use this book for gigging. i cannot stop and turn the page during the middle of a wedding procession. some of the pieces even have 2 page turns! did the editor for this book fall sleep or was he just an idiot?

Mel Bay has some very nice editions (e.g. the complete Giuliani etudes). This is not one of them. I recommend you just google whatever pieces you need, as there is a wealth of free music online.

This is a competent, important collection for the classical guitarist who plays weddings. It has most of the 'required' pieces, however does not include the important Canon in D(No doubt the editor is trying to send a message to the wedding crowd!). I like most of the fingerings and has some nice material that cannot be found elsewhere. As noted in the other review, a violin can easily be substituted as well. Page turns are a problem, but with some copying and taping this flaw is fixed. Highly useful and recommended.

this has great and recognizable tunes. I play flute, and look for a guitarist to play the guitar part. It's not too challenging for an advanced musician. Worth a shot, adding to your library when that wedding gig, or many other gigs come up, because these things aren't just about wedding.
