5.0 out of 5 stars The Best CD for Choosing Wedding Music!, May 15, 2003
By
Jen Brooks (San Francisco, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wedding Music (Audio CD)
If you are a couple researching wedding music for your big event, you won't regret purchasing this wonderful, beautifully-recorded CD. It is a MUST HAVE recording. It clearly represents what kind of music you will have at your wedding. The sound is gorgeous, clear and full, and it contains the standard pieces that string quartets play at weddings.

While my husband and I were deciding what music to choose for our wedding, we bought a whole selection of wedding CDs from Amazon.com. One crucial detail we did not think of before we bought all these recordings is that we are hiring a string quartet: not a chamber orchestra, a rock band or a group of electric keyboard players. Most of the CDs we bought, such as the "Classical Wedding Traditions" CD (a recording of a chamber orchestra), were useless. It's not like we will be having the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra or NY Philharmonic play at our wedding. You can't ask a string quartet to play orchestra music. You can ask for some transcriptions, but they generally play music specifically written for string quartet. The first violinist of the string quartet we hired highly recommended this CD to us as a basis of what they enjoy playing at weddings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review from Professional Orchestral Musician in NYC, January 8, 2006
This review is from: Wedding Music (Audio CD)
I just bought this CD and I must say, I don't know what that previous reviewer is talking about. Did that person even hear the CD? I am also a professional musician, also conservatory-trained, at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, and I think these musicians are playing excellently. Being in the wedding business for a long time, I can tell you that sometimes other musicians with weddng CDs give negative reviews to other musician's CDs so you'll purchase their CD instead. It's a shame what some musicians will resort to in order to sell a few CDs. If you listen to the clips, you'll hear how good they sound. Granted, the sound clips on Amazon are not high-quality, so I looked for these tracks on iTunes before I purchased the CD, and they are much, much better (I searched Wedding Music Victoria Paterson). Owning the CD, I can tell you that it sounds much nicer than the sound examples. Also, their programming is right on: this is definitely what a professional string quartet plays at weddings, and I should know since this is what I do for a living, along with being a freelance orchestral musician.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic CD, April 9, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Wedding Music (Audio CD)
If you love string quartet music rather than chamber orchestra music, like I do, then this is a wonderful, classy CD to have. All the selections are fantastic, rather than just a few of them.
