5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Conclusion - Leaves You Wanting More!, June 28, 2005
In THE WEDDING NIGHT OF AN ENGLISH ROGUE, we meet yet another Boscastle family member in Jillian Hunter's conclusion to her latest trilogy. Heath Boscastle is every bit as much fun as Grayson and Chloe had been in the previous books, THE SEDUCTION OF AN ENGLISH SCOUNDREL and THE LOVE AFFAIR OF AN ENGLISH LORD.

Six years after Heath Boscastle encounters Julia Hepworth, he is asked to be her bodyguard by his commanding officer, Russell Althorne. Seems Althorne saved his life so Heath owes him a favor. Little does Althorne know that Heath and Julia had a romantic encounter that neither has been able to forget in the ensuing years.

Reluctantly Heath agrees and the rekindling of their romantic feelings begins. But this is more than a typical historical romance. Hunter likes to keep the reader guessing, so she adds a bit of suspense. Seems Althorne is on the heels of a diabolical villain, Armond Auclair, a Frenchman who enjoys torturing his captives. Heath had been captured by Auclair and barely survived, only to be rescued by Russell Althorne and a friend and fellow soldier, Hamm. Althorne believes Auclair is in France, but when Julia begins to have encounters with a stranger, Heath wonders if Auclair isn't behind the meetings.

Jillian Hunter brings back some of her characters from the two previous books, much to my happiness. Grayson Boscastle and his lovely wife, Jane, show us that life has not changed for them. They are still witty, fun, and very much in love. Unfortunately we were only given a glimpse of Chloe and Dominick, but I'm hoping Hunter gives us a glimpse into their lives in the future.

Hunter has created the Boscastles who rival Nora Roberts' MacGregor clan. Each Boscastle is unique, but all possess the verve for life that set them apart from others. Seldom is the reader entertained to this extent by the shenanigans of so many amusing people. The Boscastle's knack for finding themselves in interesting but scandalous situations will leave you laughing. One excellent example is Julia having her nude caricature of Heath stolen and then published in a pamphlet distributed all over London. It was pure enjoyment each time someone mentioned that drawing to Heath and I loved reading about him squirming his way into an explanation that would not disgrace he or Julia.

Jillian Hunter continues to shine with THE WEDDING NIGHT OF AN ENGLISH ROGUE. Her humor is at the forefront and leaves the reader wanting more at the end of the book. I hope she continues with the dramatics of this energetic family in the near future!

(REAL NAME)
I picked this book up and devoured it in a day. The story grabbed me from the start, saucy characters, and great plot twists. It is a fun, escape from reality read. This is a story of unrequited love and passion that will keep you glued to it till end. The dialogue was Hunter at her best...witty and amusing. The plot moved along at a great pace. Full of enjoyable supporting characters and stories. Both characters felt "real" and made me believe they were in love with one another deeply. Both had great senses of humor too, which is always a plus. This book had everything you need to create a good romance: a dashing hero, a beautiful heroine and, most of all...PASSION! This book is sharp and fast-moving. Filled with Lovable characters, exciting and not too heavy action-mystery twists. Lots of laugh out-loud, I-can't-believe-they-did-that scenes and oh so plenty of heart warming moments. This was just the kind of romance novel I love. Wonderful characters. Characters that seems real because they are not perfect-something most novels like this lack. I absolutely loved this book. The author has a great gift in her ability to develop characters. I must have laughed a hundred times and I absolutely couldn't put the book down until I was finished. Wonderfully written! And very sexy Historical Romance book. I loved, loved ,loved this book!!!

This book is by far my favorite of the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very romantic - I really loved this book., October 10, 2006
By
For me this was the kind of book I truly love to read. The couple had fallen in what appeared to both of them to be lust several years before when neither of them were quite sure of the others true feelings. But they both lived with their romantic encounter and it never truly left them. They both regretted that they had not taken a few different actions afterwords that might have changed the course of their lives. So six years later Julia and Heath are once again thrown together although she is engaged to another, a man named Russel. Russel has asked Heath to guard Julia while he chases after a French spy. Heath cannot believe it. He is supposed to guard this woman that he has not forgotten, and has measured all other women since. Soon the couple will be forced to test their feelings for each other once again. It is just so romantic and sexual and heated. You can feel this couple just explode right off the pages. I loved how they both remembered their encounter and they both truly regretted that they had not been honest with their feelings. It is great that they are given this second chance at love. The Boscastle men are one sexy charming family of rogues that seem to be absolutely wonderful husband material when they find the right woman. For Heath no other woman but Julia will do and he truly had me melting for him as he seduced Julia right into his bed! Great sexy historical romance!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars The Bodcastles, July 8, 2005
Six years ago Julia Hepworth met Lord Heath Boscastle when she shot him. But that did not stop the two from being dangerously attracted to one another. They were almost caught in a very compromising position. So they quickly parted ways, but never forgot each other.

Now Julia is the fiancée to Sir Russell Althorne, Heath's commanding officer. Russell is chasing Armand Auclair, a French spy that one tortured Heath to near insanity before Russell rescued him. Russell calls in the debt of honor. Heath is to protect Julia while Russell is away, in case Armand sends someone to harm her. But Heath and Julia both know that they can't be in the same room without falling into each other's arms.

*** There are some very colorful secondary characters in this tale. Julia's aunt, Hermia, actually steals the show a few times! You will also get to see how Grayson and Jane (from a previous novel in the Boscastle series) is doing. As for Julia, she is a widow when she meets Heath again, no innocent miss fresh from the school room. This makes the romance between the two main characters explosive. All-in-all, this is not the best story in the Boscastle series, but well worth your time to pick up and read. ***

4.0 out of 5 stars heated romantic suspense, June 29, 2005
In 1814, Colonel Sir Russell Althorne asks his officer Lieutenant Colonel Lord Heath Boscastle to keep his fiancée Julia safe while he is in France searching for crazy French espionage agent Armand Auclair. Heath has survived war, imprisonment, torture, and family; he would do any of those over again rather then spend time with the widow Julia Hepworth, but he owes Russell for saving his life so he reluctantly agrees. Six years ago, Heath met Julia when she shot him and he followed up by kissing her. He never forgot her, but she rejected his advances and married someone else who since died in India.

Julia also never forgot the kiss that in spite of a husband and a fiancé has been the sexual highlight of her life. She became engaged to Russell when he helped her after her husband and dad died close to one another, but no longer grieving she has doubts about marrying Russell.

Heath's brother Grayson tells him Russell has impregnated his mistress and suggests he seduce his beloved Julia as Russell no longer deserves loyalty. As Heath and Julia fall in love, they first must deal with Auclair, who is in England not France, and then Russell.

From the moment the lead couple re-meets for the first time in six years, the heated romance between them makes the tale although the suspense is strong as the audience anticipates showdowns with her fiancé and the crazed clever killer. The return of characters from the first Boscastle novel SEDUCTION OF AN ENGLISH SCOUNDREL adds strength to a fine story line although the finish is real but anticlimactic.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst romance ever., August 24, 2010
This book was just terrible. Really, just so very, very poorly written.

The love scenes were written as though the author had popped out for a quick bite of something mid-sentence and forgot what they'd been doing when she got back. I wondered, on more than one occasion, if the author has ever actually *had* sex; flipping to the back inside cover it claims she's got a few kids and a husband.

I remain unconvinced.

There were points when the hero had his thighs wrapped around the heroine's thighs *while simultaneously* the heroine had her thighs outside of his. I really don't know logistically how that would work; apparently not only was I asked to suspend disbelief, but also knowledge of basic physics.

If you like this book I suspect you have yet to have read any decent romantic fiction. There are quite a number of good writers who don't tell, they show. Who don't deliver merely the predigested pap, but instead they demonstrate character development, write entertaining prose and dialogue, and make the entire experience one worth taking. If this were just an average book, I'd be happy to eat my $[...], say "no harm, no foul", and go on with my day. But I feel it would be doing a disservice to any other romance reader out there who might be thinking to herself, "Self? Let's go have us a look-see at some books. Ooo. Maybe this one won't be so bad..." Whoa. Hold up. You can stop yourself right there. It's bad. headdesk-omfg-I-can't-believe-I-spent-money-on-this bad.

I'm sorry to be so harsh. I WANTED to like this book. I paid money with the assumption that I would like it. I was hoping all along it was going to work out. But no, instead I'm hit with painful continuity errors, like how the hero goes from having no horrific scarring on his chest in one scene to having horrific scarring from something that happened years ago in a subsequent scene. What the heck happened there? Was the heroine poked in the eye the first time? Did somebody have a twin I didn't know about? Do the scars move around? What?

The dedication was to her editor, but I think her editor fell asleep at the wheel with this. Worse? The original copyright was in 2005; it appears this was a re-release. HELLO? Is anyone clued-in that not only do subjects and verbs need to agree but you can't change major things upon which the plot hinges MID-BOOK without someone saying, "Hey, wait a minute..."

Or...another theory: I am the only human being ever to have actually read that far. I'm gonna go with...plausible.

1.0 out of 5 stars Did I read the same book?!, November 10, 2011
I have to agree with the other 1 star rating. This book had some major flaws. The other reviewer pointed out the lack of editing that this book has. The steamy romance scenes were not well written and some of the things she describes are physically impossible. I found I was trying to visualize how things could have actually worked and since it didn't make sense, the whole scenes lost their entire continuity and their ability to draw me in.

Probably my biggest problem with this book was that the entire plot of the book leads up to the final encounter with Auclair. Probably the only thing this book does well is build suspense leading up to this Encounter. And then it's an entire let down. I actually thought I missed some pages because the scene is over about two sentences after it starts. All the suspense built to nothing! Throughout the whole book we learn how horrible Auclair is. How incredibly elusive and devious he is. Then we reach the end of the book and he is killed with absolutely no conflict and no real challenge. There was so much potential for that scene and the author decided to do absolutely nothing with it! What a joke!

Also I was already bored about halfway through because the book just kept recirculating to discuss the first encounter between Heath and Julia. But by that point they had already supposedly discussed and resolved it like a dozen times! Overall the book is just repetitive, impossible and anticlimactic. PLEASE save your money and DO NOT bother with this book!
