Book Description

May 28, 2007
Now that the cost of the average wedding runs well into five figures, the job of capturing a complete record of this special day has become especially critical. Those who undertake it, even if they are not professional photographers, will want to be certain that they are fully equipped to deliver a finished album of the highest standards. To ensure the finest results, one need look no further than this superb practical manual, which is replete with examples of the very best work from around the world. Aimed at amateur and semi-professional photographers, the book begins with a discussion of available equipment; it then takes the reader through every phase of a wedding shoot—preparations and planning, locations and poses, the execution of the shoot, printing and work in the digital darkroom, designing an album—and concludes with a chapter on the business-end of wedding photography.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great primer for the new wedding photographer, November 9, 2007

This review is from: Wedding Photography: A Professional Guide (Paperback)
Just got this book yesterday to help me with a couple of weddings I have coming up.

I have read it already (it is a quick read) but will be going back through now and taking notes while I go through it again.

I like the way the author writes, he presents the entire book to you in easy-to-digest sections that map directly to what wedding clients or planners are expecting from you.

The first section deals with equipment and preparation. There is a great example of a checklist to use for the wedding day 'did I get all the shots' list and a list of the lenses and other equipment that Morag carries with him.

Next, he talks about a pre-wedding interview to get to know your clients and a pre-wedding shoot, and then about knowing the area you are going to shoot... and goes on from there to walk you through the entire wedding day, bringing up many great ideas for spicing up a shoot or getting the most out of difficult venues.

This book is packed full of good advice about shooting weddings and has many large, full color examples from Morag and other photographers.

If you need to get up to speed quickly on how to shoot a wedding this is your book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great summary of what a photographer needs.. Simple and charming, October 7, 2011

This review is from: Wedding Photography: A Professional Guide (Paperback)
I love the way the writer just focuses on the main things you must have in mind when photographing a wedding without making it too complicated:

-MAIN EQUIPMENT YOU'LL NEED

-CHECKLIST

-PLANNING THE EVENT

-SAMPLE PHOTOGRAPHIES (IDEAS)

-PHOTOSHOP TIPS

I'm an intermediate photographer and I found it very useful, perhaps is for that level people, may be a pro would feel it is too easy so if you are that and love numbers, f stops and lots of technical details this is not the book for you...

I don't think it is basic either, you definitely must have a sturdy background of several photography experience and terms knowldege to understand it but it is like a must have in your backpack just in case stress blocks you at the very same moment of the event, or for reading it always before the event... it keeps it simple, fresh and gives you all the necessary tools to understand what is expected from you there...

two thumbs up! :)
