4.0 out of 5 stars The Wedding Planner Soundtrack
After seeing Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey in THE WEDDING PLANNER, I wanted to get the soundtrack. (The movie is great!) My first thought on this soundtrack is that it could have been better... But it is cute and whimsical with the some new and old remakes mixed in. There are three songs (Track #2, 6, 7) that are featured that are not in the movie and two songs...

2.0 out of 5 stars not what I expected
Yes the movies was fab-who doesn't love Matthew Mc! But hey-they leave her single off of it-and don't even put the versions of the songs in the movie--- It is a good CD, but I am sad that I paid all that money for it.. it was a bit of a letdown...

But check the movie out-it was great-definitely a keeper!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Wedding Planner Soundtrack, January 27, 2001
This review is from: The Wedding Planner (2001 Film) (Audio CD)
After seeing Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey in THE WEDDING PLANNER, I wanted to get the soundtrack. (The movie is great!) My first thought on this soundtrack is that it could have been better... But it is cute and whimsical with the some new and old remakes mixed in. There are three songs (Track #2, 6, 7) that are featured that are not in the movie and two songs (Track #8, 13) that has different versions than from the movie. And, there are no Jennifer Lopez songs on this CD. (Which is noted on the back of the CD to let the audience know. Maybe J.Lo didn't want to deter her audience from her newly released CD.) But over all, the cute popsy songs do this movie justice. It's good Saturday morning listening music and it's upbeat and happy enough. There are quite a few new and up and coming female singers like Jessical Riddle and Jessica Sheely that contribute to this soundtrack- which I thought was pretty good. I also liked Lisa Stanfield's version of "Someday My Baby Waits For me" and Dan Finnerty's "A Groovy Kind of Love". The movie's theme music composed by Mervyn Warren is sweet and romantic and is featured at the end of the CD. (Worth listening to.) Some of the songs on this CD reminded a bit of the Dawson's Creek soundtrack but overall a great CD to listen to.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great winter-time album for romantic young women, November 19, 2002
By
This review is from: The Wedding Planner (2001 Film) (Audio CD)
If J Lo.'s "Wedding Planner" movie was the ideal Valentine's Day girls night (or afternoon) out movie, then this soundtrack is the perfect February pick-me-up from the post-V. Day winter blahs of the unattached and/or pining away. The songs are very female-oriented, romantic, and usually filled with optimistic longing.

My favorite tracks are the ones like these --

"Somewhere My Baby Waits for Me" - my personal favorite, very "sweep-you-off-your-feet" music and comforting hopeful words for any unattached hopeless romantic.

"Adore You" - pop-folksy song that in any other context might annoy me, but on this CD it's perfect!

"I Can't Help Myself" - a decadently girly crush song. Makes you think of pink candy hearts and nail polish to match!

"We'll Find It" - an upbeat, fun, hopeful song that gives a small shot of energy to the slower pace of the CD

"Plan on Forever" - not the same version as used in the film, but still a great song. I think it would have been even better, though, if J. Lo. had performed it.

I also love the "Garden Conversation" love theme - very "hollywood romantic comedy" music, glittery, lots of strings, sweet melody, etc. And I love "Steve and Mary's Tango". The scene in the movie is great, and I don't know about you, but I find tango music to be intense and sensual and it somehow manages to fit together on this album nicely.

Now I can't say I listen too much to the "Wedding song trilogy" (I honestly love you, annie's song, and a groovy kind of love) that often at all, but they are nice to have on there for novelty's sake!

Overall, I recommend this CD, but be forewarned -- if you're not of the variety of unattached/pining hopeless romantic female with a soft spot for weddings and romantic comedies, you may not understand quite why I think so highly of it! If you are, however, be prepared to snap out of your blues and keep those eyes peeled for your prince charming....for "one fine day, you'll turn around and there he will be......"

I love this soundtrack almost as much as I loved the movie! The only thing that I would have liked better on the soundtrack is some Jennifer Lopez songs, but other than that, it is wonderful! GO buy it, and see the movie!

I love this CD! I love this movie! You may call me old-fashioned, but this is the kind of music I listen to. I liked JLo's "My Love Don't Cost A Thing," although it was so different from the other songs. I've always loved Jennifer Lopez in movies and Matthew McConaughy was great! These are the songs (and the movie) that won't get old or boring quickly!

The soundtrack from "The Wedding Planner" featuring Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey is just as great as the movie itself. All the songs are excellent, but my favorite is "Plan on Forever". It's one of those tunes you can listen to over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply beautiful!, February 24, 2010

I loved the movie! Call me a "die-hard" romantic person, because I can watch this movie over and over. I love Steve in the park both times and at the dance studio - actually what is not to like - every scene is great! Those types of men are rare. But when I purchased the CD, wow! I could not stop playing it. Every song is amazing! With each song, I can see each movie scene being played before my eyes. I will use "Plan on Forever" one day in the near future.

Just keeping it real!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for every hopeless romantic., January 25, 2003

The movie was absolutely romantic and sweet, so of course it needed a soundtrack to follow in its footsteps. The Wedding Planner soundtrack is filled with optimistic songs about finding and/or being in love, such as "I Can't Help Myself" by Nobody's Angel, a sweet ballad about puppy love. Also included is "Adore You" by Nikki Hassman, a song which is self-explanatory.
Bottom line? If you adore love songs, this is the soundtrack for you.

"Wait a minute? Isn't this a Jennifer Lopez film? Wouldn't she have any songs on this soundtrack?" That was what I was thinking when I listened to this soundtrack. I haven't seen the movie, but I've seen the previews on TV and on TV during the previews they played Jennifer Lopez's "Love Don't Cost A Thing", so I thought that song would be on this soundtrack...or at least one song by Jennifer Lopez. But there's not one track by Jennifer Lopez listed on this soundtrack! I was a little disappointed about that! (I absolutely adore "Love Don't Cost A Thing...it's a really great song.) Not only was I a little disappointed, but I was also a little shocked and surprised that she didn't have one of her songs on this soundtrack. But above all that, it's a pretty good soundtrack. Not one of the best, of course (from what it sounded like was that the soundtrack was headed toward a younger audience with songs by Nobody's Angel and Jessica Riddle, as two examples). So older audiences may not care much for this soundtrack but it's still pretty good and should be listened to especially if you've seen the film. I gave this soundtrack four stars because there were no Jennifer Lopez songs and I haven't seen the movie yet. Good buy - not a waste of money if you like these artists.
