Read on for the funny stories - we'll start with a few practical details. Angela Lansbury was born in London and has written ten books published by mainstream publishers including the useful, humorous and popular Wedding Speeches & Toasts; also Etiquette For Every Occasion ('yes, you can wear white if you're not a virgin, everybody else does'; and How to Be The Best Man (speeches you should give - and speeches you shouldn't).
In her heyday as a travel writer, she was writing articles for Brides and Parents and articles on heroes of the north, the Brontes, Dracula weekends and murder weekends Northern Echo newspaper. She published a book called Unforgettable British Weekends. Whilst living in Maryland she appeared on the Arthur Frommer TV travel programme and spoke on radio in the USA. On press trips she was often given the honeymoon suite. Her biggest challenge was finding a man to share with, or getting into the honeymoon suite to take a picture when it was already occupied by a bride and groom.
Angela The Amusing Teacher
She trained as an English teacher and a print and radio journalist, wrote advertising copy, went back to teaching English A level as a home tutor and English as a second language at schools in Singapore. Her greatest challenge as a group teacher was in Singapore when a powercut left her teaching a mixed abiility class in total darkness. Her greatest challenge as a home tutor in the UK was the family who wanted her to teach two children of different ages and mother whilst the third child under the table kept tying Angela's shoelaces together.
Her interests are writing, self-publishing and public speaking. She is now self-publishing comic poetry, how to books, memoirs and humorous historical novels. As well as a home tutor for English A level, EFL, and anybody writing a thesis), she writes speech courses for schools, judges competitions, runs Comic Poetry Workshops for writers' groups,. and Workshops for Writers' holidays. She has all sorts of props such as puppets.

Angela the Public Speaker and Speakers' Trainer
Angela is a keen member of Toastmasters International, a self-help group which trains speakers. She has won 50 ribbons and certificates for best speaker, best impromptu speaker and best speech evaluator. She has trained speakers at universities and businesses in the UK, Singapore and China. Her greatest challenge was teaching English in total darkness during a powercut. Her favourite topic is Helen Keller the deaf and blind author who gave speeches.
She has also worked as a magazine sub-editor, partwork and encyclopaedia researcher, brochure writer, book editor, advertising copywriter. She proof-reads websites and packaging and willingly translates from French to English. She unwilling translates from English into French, Spanish and German - only if well paid and promptly paid because it takes hours.
SPEAKER & PERFORMER
Angela can speak on radio about a destination and write a poem about it. She has done this for Philadelphia.
She is a speakers' mentor and School & adult competition judge. She can so a personalized performance for parties with pianos & puppets for wedding anniversaries. For example, for neighbours who had a pond with frogs in it, she dashed home to get a frog puppet. (Please don't mention frogs' leg soup.)

Her latest hobby is drawing caricatures, which you can see on her website. She travels with huge handbag containing a book of quotations, cue cards to give a speech, a notebook for writing comic poetry, another for jokes for stand-up comedy, and a pad and watercolour pencils so she can draw caricatures of people she meets. Once, looking around the room at a Writers' holiday, she asked a friend, 'I want to write about somebody - who's the most interesting person in this room?' Her friend retorted, 'You are!'
