Book Description

Fans of romance novels by Nora Roberts, Debbie Macomber and Susan Mallery will enjoy THE WEDDING GIFT by Lucy Kevin, the first fun, sweet contemporary romance in the Four Weddings and a Fiasco series.

After Julie Delgado’s restaurant closes, she temporarily takes over the catering position at the Rose Chalet, a full-service San Francisco wedding venue. She plans to dazzle the bride and groom so the Chalet’s owner will keep her around, but fate has other plans for her when the bride’s brother shows up for the first food tasting.

Andrew Kyle is not only the Cuisine Channel’s Edgy Eats host and chef, but his recent review of Julie’s restaurant was the final nail in its coffin. Once he meets Julie at the Rose Chalet, he’s certain she’s playing it safe. And he wants nothing more than to be the one to break her guarded passions loose.

But despite the undeniable sparks between Julie and Andrew–and the fact that he seems to believe in her when no one else does–can she afford to be taking risks with her cooking, with her career…or with her heart?

(THE WEDDING GIFT is an eBook original novel of 40,000 words - approximately 180 pages)

4.0 out of 5 stars The Wedding Gift August 12, 2012

Julie Delgado's restaurant is killed by a bad review from celebrity chef Andrew Kyle. Now that she's lost everything and living with her Aunt, she's desperate for a temporary stint as a wedding caterer at The Rose Chalet to turn into a permanent gig. It's just poor Julie's luck that Andrew Kyle's brother is the groom and overseeing the food is Andrew's wedding gift to him. Andrew has his eye on Julie and Julie is nothing short of confused. She should hate the man, right?

This book was adorable. Julie plays life safe to prevent rejection and hurt feelings. Andrew's job isn't just to woo her but to help her learn how to take risks and trust her instincts. I thought it was great seeing Julie in the process of learning how to trust herself and shed some of that insecurity. I thought the chemistry between the two was great and I thought they were well suited for each other.

The book isn't long (114 pages) but I felt that the author utilized the length well. I wasn't bored, I didn't feel like I was reading filler, it was well paced and it ended well. All in all, this was a great relaxing Sunday afternoon read that I would recommend.

*This is a clean romance, just kissing...no naughty bits.

Really nice book with an interesting development of the plot for a short novella. Haven't expected to like it so much.
Would have liked to have a real epilogue though, and not just the preview of the next book disguised as an epilogue for this story..

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely story of romance April 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
As with all of Lucy Kevin's books, I enjoyed this book. It is a basic book about romance and a couple falling in love. It is a book that you can read and not think much. If you like those kind of books, then this one is for you. I know I found myself cheering on the main character. If you are looking for a highly intellectual book with subplots, then this book is not for you. It is a quick read at just around 180 pages, if it was in book form. While I do enjoy an book that sparks my intellect, from time to time I also enjoy a mindless-feel-good book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed January 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I normally hesitate to write a bad review for a book because as a writer I do know how hard it is to write a book. That said, I really can't say much that's good about this book. I read it because the description says that readers of Nora Roberts would like this writer. If by that they meant that this writer shamelessly used Nora's Bride Quartet series for inspiration, then they're right. That's where the similarities end between the two authors. This book is all fluff and no substance. By the end, the two main characters who we never really get to know that well and are not fully developed, are suddenly completely in love with each other. The secondary characters are merely cardboard and there are no friendships between the characters that are developed at all, yet we're somehow supposed to become interested in reading four more books that comprise this series. No thank you. I won't be wasting my time with any more books by this author. If you truly are a Nora Roberts fan, then steer clear. This author has none of Nora's knack for creating loveable characters that are well-developed and believable, nor does she have any ability to write a romantic love story. The romance in this book was nonexistent. The only good thing about this book was that it was free and I didn't waste any money on it. Don't waste your time on this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun heart-warming read April 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This was a fun heart-warming read. The two characters were both lovable yet, the issues that kept them apart were genuine. Will be adding more books from Lucy Kevin to my "to be read" list.
