5.0 out of 5 stars Ideas for every budget !
I always manage to find some idea in all of Martha Stewart's books that I can make my own. I have used the wedding books to make both anniversary and wedding cakes and find the instructions to be detailed and easy to follow. Everyone raves about my chocolate cake with chocolate curls, both taken from the instructions for the groom's cake. My son is getting married...

1.0 out of 5 stars Wait for an Updated Version
This book was written in the EARLY 80's - and for a 90's bride, it is totally outdated. Don't bother spending money on this one until she writes an updated version, which hopefully should be expected soon. With Martha's popularity, you would think she wouldn't rely on this book to lead her into the 90's. Buy Colin Cowie or Beverly Clark instead.

I have used the wedding books to make both anniversary and wedding cakes and find the instructions to be detailed and easy to follow. Everyone raves about my chocolate cake with chocolate curls, both taken from the instructions for the groom's cake. My son is getting married soon and we have kept the wedding costs for below $3000.00, including the caterer, by using many of the ideas I have gotten from this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Ideas are timeless!, January 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Weddings By Martha Stewart (Hardcover)
While Martha may be the favorite "football" for most of America, I happen to like her work! This book is no exception. Although the book is several years old, it provides both amazing photography and solid ideas. Elegance does not have a pricetag nor does it have an expiration date. Martha's ideas inspire and leave the imaginative reader "primed" to create their own wedding fantasy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully illustrated, ideas for all budget levels!, September 17, 1998

As a floral designer, I am in constant contact with today's brides. No matter what the budgetary constraints, I have yet to meet a bride that did not peruse the pages of this book during one of our consultations. Often a single photo will elicite "that's just what I'm looking for". Everyone can't afford a Martha Stewart wedding, but as always, her ideas are helpful for all. It's a good thing...

4.0 out of 5 stars Substance stands up to test of time, June 10, 2008

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Weddings By Martha Stewart (Hardcover)
As 'The Best of MS Living Weddings' proved to be a winner for my family, and another wedding recently came on to our horizon, 'Weddings' was ordered.
Relatively few wedding books explore 'at home' celebrations, so I was glad to invest in a copy. I was prepared to overlook the c1980s details because I had every confidence that Ms Stewart's abilities as a caterer and competent authority on nuptials would stand the test of time.
I must admit that the appearance of this book truly is outdated (caused mostly by its now unfashionable pictorial format and photographs of bad couture, some hopelessly ridiculous bridesmaid costumes, etc). Nevertheless, the substance hasn't been at all compromised.
'Weddings' contains the introductory information that I was looking for: sensible points worth mulling over. In particular, it offers a good introduction to the concept and process of planning.
Since reading this book, I have had plenty to consider and reconsider. Unexpectedly, this book showed me that what appear now to be kitsch or faddish details are really sobering reminders of the importance of keeping everything as simple and as timeless as possible.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for "real" people, August 28, 1998
By
This review is from: Weddings By Martha Stewart (Hardcover)
This coffee-table type book had beautiful illustrations and good ideas if you're in the market for one of those $100,000+ weddings, but if you're a "real" person planning a wedding on a budget, don't bother consulting Martha!

2.0 out of 5 stars Martha Stewart Weddings, November 19, 2003

I was very disappointed with this particular book. I was looking forward to a book with many wedding ideas, however, this book is less of ideas and more on weddings meanings and tradition. The ideas it does share are very out-of-date.

1.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced, old book., April 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Weddings By Martha Stewart (Hardcover)
Martha has proven once again that her books are NOT for those who have a modest and realistic budget for their wedding. The price of her book is the indication. Don't bother spending $75 for her book full of old ideas, go out and window shop at your local bridal show. Looking for timeless ideas? You can look somewhere else for a lot cheaper price.
