4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not quite as good as the Murderdolls
first off, to bloodlust69 who gave this album 1 star on the basis that it is "mall goth" music, i have read through some of your reviews and i noticed you seem to love marylin manson, rob zombie, and godsmack, now then, assuming "mall goth" means goth's who only do it for attention and dabble in goth pop culture, guess what? marylin manson, rob zombie and espcially...

first off, to bloodlust69 who gave this album 1 star on the basis that it is "mall goth" music, i have read through some of your reviews and i noticed you seem to love marylin manson, rob zombie, and godsmack, now then, assuming "mall goth" means goth's who only do it for attention and dabble in goth pop culture, guess what? marylin manson, rob zombie and espcially godsmack are "mall goth" bands, they are the epitome of goth pop culture, secondly you seem to go out of your way to make sure you give pop bands such as brintey spears and the like, 1 star and express your distaste for them, which to me seems like a desperate cry for attention if i ever saw one, that being said, let's get on with the review:

this band is, as bloodlust69 put it, a "mall goth" band, however you shouldn't judge a metal/rock band by its fanbase, while its true that the lyrics are far from deep and thought provoking, one must keep in mind that the point of the album is not for making great art, just to make good sounding music for entertainment, so if your looking for smart music you should probably look elswhere, that being said this album is good fun music and denfinitely worth it if your a murderdolls fan

To the moron that rated this 1 star (bloodlust69), you are among the absolute dumbest of people alive today. You even replied to the people insulting you making yourself out to be even dumber. "if noone writes bad reviews", while this is true usually when people write bad reviews it's on something that they thought they could've possibly liked being in the genre they listen to. You on the otherhand start your review saying pretty much I hate this genre of music and the people that listen to it and I know it's going to suck before I listen to it. That's like me rating a new country album and I hate country so of course I'm not going to like it. Anyways I even bothered to look through some of your reviews and you seem to be overly obssessed with marilyn manson. I found that quite funny since you are trash-talking goths... You even bothered to review the new 50 Cent album... and I bet you don't listen to rap and if you do it's ICP haha. I listened to this entire album today and it has some great catchy tunes and any fan of horror-rock//misfits//or murderdolls should be quite impressed. I would say it's on the same level as murderdolls and recommend you listening to the e-card before buying this. A personal favorite track on this album for me would have to be Elect Death For President.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Horror from Wednesday 13, April 12, 2005

This latest incarnation of Wednesday 13's brand of horror rock is not as heavy as the Murderdolls but this cd kicks ass. Murderdolls had more of a metal sound with a punk edge. Transylvania 90210 has more of a rock n roll sound with a punk edge. This reminds me of what Alice Cooper sounded like in the late 80's and early 90's. Its an entertaining slab of horror-drenched rock n roll with a humorous twist. Right off the bat, if you liked Murderdolls then this album is for you. Its actually a little more somber in some songs and there are more keyboards used, which brings to mind the Alice Cooper comparison. The songs are catchy and silly so you pretty much know what to expect. My guess is this album wont do as good as Murderdolls but this is just as good. For fans of horror films and Rock N Roll. Highlight tracks include Rot For Me, Bad Things, Buried by Christmas, and especially I Want You...Dead...that song is killer(no pun intended)! Note: I heard Misfits comparisions and I have to clarify. I love the Misfits, new and old, and this album doesn't sound like either! So I would sample first before just buying it if you are a Mifits fan. If you are like me and Halloween is everyday(even on Christmas!) then this album is for you! You get what you pay for with this album and thats ENTERTAINMENT!! This album is recommended. Long Live The Horror!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wednesday 13 grows up (a little), July 27, 2006
This review is from: Wednesday 90210 (Audio CD)
Well on this CD Wednesday 13 grows up a little. The song are definitly of higher quality both in song writing and production. This is a lot more polished than his previous offerings.
The stand out songs are all on the top of the disc. Look What the Bat Dragged In, I Walked with a Zombie, (My Fav) Bad Things, House By the Cemetery and Haunt Me (which really kicks butt).
I am very pleased and it is constant rotation in my CD player along with the Murderdolls.
Again if your a fan of Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie and heavy metal give this one a spin.

5.0 out of 5 stars The night Wednesday 13 came out of his grave.., May 17, 2006

I am a bit new to Wednesday 13's work. I have always been a huge fan of horror movies, and hard rock/metal music. When a artist mix the two I jump all over it. Bands like the Alice Cooper, Misfits, Samhain, Danzig, Rob Zombie, and Balzac are all faves of mine.

When I found out about Wednesday 13 I just picked up the album cold without even listening to it first. That was a risk well taken. A day later I picked up the Murderdolls. There is nothing deep about Wednesday's lyrics except maybe the deeply buried corpses he sings about. When I want deep lyrics I listen to other bands, but when I want music about death, dying, monsters, Vampires, zombies, Vincent Price and halloween this album is a great choice. Plus it just rocks out hard.

One reviewer said holloween is everyday at their house and Wednesday 13 is great for that. Well Wednesday 13 certianly delivers. Musically this album has a great hard rock punk style which fits the subject matter perfectly. I can hear influences such as Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, and maybe a little Misfits. Nothing more to say other than it just plainly rips like leatherface's chainsaw. Also Wednesday's image seems to be cross between Marylin Manson and David Bowie Ziggy Stardust.

Wednesday 13 isn't adding anything extremely new to the world of hardrock/metal but he's keeping the horror rock thing alive which is great. If it ain't broke don't fix it. In the words of George Romero "Stay scared!"

4.0 out of 5 stars Creepy, Spooky, Campy Fun!, September 17, 2005

This review is from: Wednesday 90210 (Audio CD)
Being a fan of some of the stuff put out by Murderdolls, I had to check out Wednesday 13's solo project. Though it took a few listens, I have come to love this album. It's a rare few who can pull together thumping beats, a heavy punk rock sound, and creative horror-themed lyrics without sounding cheesy and forgettable. Though slightly more mellow than what the Murderdolls put out, the songs are still highly entertaining and probably more accessible to a wider audience.

For those not familiar with the work of Wednesday 13, he can be likened to the sounds of Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, or Alice Cooper, with tinges of Concrete Blond, Type O Negative, and Twisted Sister.

Horror veterans will find many nods to films and themes within the lyrics, as well as many symbolic references and sarcastic undertones towards to life in general (a la George Romero). However, to say this album is politically motivated would be a bit of a misnomer. Nonetheless, the lyrics definitely make for intriguing, and at times hilarious, listening.

Some of my favorite tracks include:

Track 2: "Look What the Bats Dragged In"
Track 3: "I Walked With a Zombie"
Track 6: "God is a Lie"
Track 7: "Haunt Me" - By far my favorite on the album.

If you're a fan of metal, punk, and/or horror rock, then I highly recommend giving Wednesday 13 a spin. Conjuring images of haunted graveyards, campy horror flicks, and creepy ghoulies, it's Halloween all year `round!

5.0 out of 5 stars Like Alice Cooper And Rob Zombie Put Together, July 15, 2010
By

When this cd first came out, I didn't think much of it because I wasn't a Murderdolls listener, being that this was the first solo album by Murderdolls frontman Wednesday 13. After previewing the new Murderdolls track that recently came out, I gave the band a chance, and I've been enjoying everything they've done since. Of course, I had to check this out especially after remembering that Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Fear Factory, Slipknot) had done the mixing for the album. Again, I was impressed. Murderdolls has more of sound that brings to mind a gothic punk version of Alice Cooper. This is like that, but with a more straight metal sound along with horror samples that easily bring to mind Rob Zombie. If this at all sounds interesting, do get it.
