Approx 60 min cassette. Side 1 contains pioneer songs from the early settlers and immigrant workers as they worked to build the nation. Side 2 covers the patriotic anthems, marches and music. Majority are sung by children. Accompanying book contains words and music to help you all learn. It also includes a short expalnation on the background to the song.

I grew up on this tape (it was still a tape back then, when we got it in about 1990). Every car trip, I jammed to the 50 states song and "Sweet Betsy from Pike." I loved these songs, and I still do, but when I learned them back at age 4, I didn't realize how often they would help me in the future. I can remember more than one time where one of the lyrics, or a blurb of one of the historic speeches scattered throughout the tape, helped me on an important test. These are songs that kids should know, and they will have fun listening to them.

Wonderful songs and lyrics which celebrate our country's heritage. Do not purchase if you wish to obscure the Christian foundations of our nation's government and common life. Voices of children, sometimes gently accompanied by an adult. Instrumentation very appropriate to each piece. Well done. Five stars because no improvement can be imagined by me.

For me, now 29, this music transports me back to the ripe old age of 6. Back then I LOVED this cassette and accompanying book. I listened to these songs as often as I could...much to dismay of my older sister! I few years ago I came across a cd/tape reissue at an educational store and picked it up. Such a great mix of patriotic songs and historical quotes.

My children love the Wee Sing series, and have asked again for the America CD to replace our worn out cassette. The songs tell of the age when Americans were proud of being American. Songs we all used to learn in school so we had a shared history. But what's with the price of close to $40? It only costs $10, with free shipping to boot. I also don't understand why some of the listings don't note "booklet and CD" as they come as a set. This item is very deceiving.
