5.0 out of 5 stars A pure delight -- with some real child talent, too
First, how I came to be watching this superb kid's video. I'm working on a lady's computer. In the same room is her TV, over to my left. Her 3-year-old granddaughter is watching this video, singing along, dancing, clapping, reciting the words spoken.

2.0 out of 5 stars Oh Brother
When I was 2 years old, I watched this movie over and over and over and over. My parents nearly slit their throats. They still bemoan the thing that is "Little Sally." I, personally, loved it. Then, while packing up for a move, I discovered it and rewatched it. I almost wretched. Horrible! Horrible horrible horrible! I'm sure that most 2 year olds love it, and if...

First, how I came to be watching this superb kid's video. I'm working on a lady's computer. In the same room is her TV, over to my left. Her 3-year-old granddaughter is watching this video, singing along, dancing, clapping, reciting the words spoken.

Not a bad kid's film, thought I. It was about the third time around that I found myself getting into it and humming along. The little actress in the red party dress is wonderful as Sally. Her dancing is lively and animated, yet so natural. Her expressions are perfect, not gee-whizish when gee-whiz isn't called for. Good singing voice. She's every bit as good as Shirley Temple was at the same age -- more natural and less theatrical. The other players do their jobs, too. The marching band is good and the kids' pantomimic playing of trombones, flutes and other instruments is a nice little touch.

The tight beat of the music, the sharpness of the drums, the one-voice sound of the choral singing all combine to give the music a captivating quality.

Amazon.com's review wasn't quite the back of a hand, but wasn't much above it. Garish? I thought the production was colorful. Poorly lit? It sparkled for me. Amateurishly shot and edited? With more than 30 syndicated TV shows under my producer/director belt I didn't see those defects. A comprimised choice for kids? After 15 years this video is still Amazon's number 12 best-seller for kid sing-alongs, has sold in the millions of copies. The lady whose computer I was working on said this he her 3rd copy of Wee Sing Together -- wore out the other two. The slip cover was positively tattered from use. Maybe Amazon needs kid reviewers for kid material.

Lacking that, old fogies like me will do. When I returned the next day with computer parts the lady thoughtfully tuned the TV to the History Channel. "Uh ... well ... Norma, do you have that Wee Sing video handy?"

5.0 out of 5 stars If it keeps the child happy...., April 2, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Wee Sing Together [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Watching this video through more mature eyes (well, fourteen-year-old eyes), I see how tacky it is. But all I can say is, when I was about two years old, I was obsessed with Sally and her birthday party. My mom reminds me of how the dancing, singing, oversized bunny entertained me, but what I remember most about WeeSing Together was how much I wished I was Sally, with her red dress, ballet shoes, and curly hair. Now my two-year-old little sister is just as infatuated with the video as I was at her age.In fact, I'm on Amazon now to order a new one, because our ten-year old tape has been played so many hundreds of times that it barely works anymore! My point is, the video is tacky. We can't even watch the other WeeSing videos without retching. But there's some certain magic to this one, and besides, as my mom says, if the kid's entertained, that's all that matters. And this definitely keeps the kid entertained!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended, just don't make me watch it., April 10, 2000

This is the most cheeseball, saccharine, out-to-recess video in my two-year-olds collection and absolutely her favorite. What song don't they sing? Eensy-weensy Spider, Old MacDonald, Loobie Loo, ABC Song, I'm a Little Tea Pot, Rain Rain Go Away, Bingo and More! You can do whatever you want for 59 glorious minutes because your child will be superglued to the tv! On the plus side, Melody the Mouse and Sally the Girl can sing and even dance. The boy however only can speak in a shouting voice. Another plus: no previews to fastforward through.(it really is a happy, dance-y show, as long as you don't have to watch it yourself.)

5.0 out of 5 stars My two year old's favorite, December 22, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Wee Sing Together [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My two year old daughter has watched this tape repeatedly over the last six months. She sings and dances her way through the hour-long tape - good exercise! She has taken to wearing a red dress (like Sally's) while she watches. She wants to have a birthday party just like Sally's, leaving my husband and I wondering how we are going to get a picnic table, dancing stuffed animals, and a marching band by February! Personally, I enjoy the music, and appreciate the simple messages and utter lack of violence or foul play. I highly recommend this video!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved more than Barney, Elmo, or Ernie, July 23, 2001

This video is my 2-year old daughter's absolute favorite. She used to be addicted to Elmo and Ernie on Sesame Street. Now, I can't get her to watch her videos of them any more. This is both a blessing and a curse if you watch it with your child since you won't be able to shake the melodies (as my neighbor who gave me the video warned me).

At her age, I'm happy to see her get so interested in the songs and dancing of this video. She enjoys singing and dancing along with the songs. The little girl, Sally, also teaches manners by example throughout the video.

Her other favorite is Wee Sing in Sillyville, which shares many of the same attributes, but has a subtle meassage about getting along with each other, even though we all may be different.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still watching!, June 23, 2004
This review is from: Wee Sing Together [VHS] (VHS Tape)
WOW! Well now that I've been brought in to a reality check of how old I am, (16 so not too bad lol) I'll have to share my wee story.

I was around one or two, only child at the time, when my parents both caught the flu. Somebody bought them Wee Sing Together for me to watch, and according to them it was a life saver. That's ALL I'd do allllllllllll day was watch Wee Sing over and over while they laid on the couch half dead. lol granted, they DID get sick of it, but it kept me busy. It went through my two siblings, and even when i was 8 I'd watch it with my little sister and dance along and sing!

Then it got packed away for a few years til i started babysitting, I've brought it along with me to pretty much ever job I've had and I haven't met a kid yet would could resist jumping up and singing with it! (parents...makes a great bribe *wink*) Now I'm a professional nanny, and the kiddos currently have it for the weekend...they've been borrowing it every other week for months now! Great movie, highly recommended by an ex-kid who loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Still remember loving this tape, August 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Wee Sing Together [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This was my favorite tape when I was little. I watched it over and over until I had the entire tape memorized, except for the backward alphabet. My mom likes to comment on how it was a relief to pop this video in the VCR and know she could get some work done, because I would be glued to the TV the entire time. Then only draw back to this plan was that I insisted on a red dress, just like Sally had. Definitely recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is my favorite!!, July 2, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Wee Sing Together [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Usually, these reviews of kids' videos are by parents who boast of how much their children enjoyed them. Well, I'm not a parent. In fact, I'm only seventeen years old. When I was in preschool and elementary school, I had to watch this video tape over and over again. It soon became my favorite. It took me a while to track this video down, and I literally cried when I saw it for the first time in over ten years a couple of months ago. It's a video that kids will love. The songs are great and catchy. You'll be singing them, too. It makes a lot of memories that I know first-hand will stick with your children forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Memories...., March 22, 2007
This review is from: Wee Sing Together [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I loved this movie as a kid! I later gave it to a younger cousin when I was"grown up". My 2 yr old loves singing and dancing and can sing almost all of the songs so she LOVES this movie."Mommy I see Together." That's what she tells me when she wants to watch it. I get excited that she likes at least one of the same things as me as a kid. It may be an older movie, but some cartoons now adays are just bad.

I love watching it with my daughter, she gets into it everytime!

5.0 out of 5 stars YES, I WATC HED THAT ONE TOO!!, January 16, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Wee Sing Together [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My mom always checked out the Wee Sing movies from the library, especially this one (until 3rd grade when they didn't have it anymore, so she got The Marvelous Musical Mansion instead). I watched them all the time! And then my sister was born, so she checked them out for her, and after not seeing them for 8 years, it was gr8 to see them again! Now I am 14 and very obsessed with Wee Sing (well, you know what I mean, eh?), especially because the songs are ones you want to hear over and over again, instead of being obnoxious. When I was looking for this one at the library, they didn't have it anymore and I wanted to see it again!! But then my mom found it at Hastings!! We are going to buy my sister all the Wee Sing movies that I watched when I was little, which includes Wee Sing Together, King Cole's Party, Sillyville (which I still can't find anywhere), and The Marvelous Musical Mansion. I think you should see all the Wee Sing movies, even if you are 14 and want to remember how insanely fun it was to be a kid! (lol!) Wee Sing movies are so good for little kids that when you get older, you still enjoy watching them instead of getting ill from seeing them over and over again!
