The best option for kids and/or long distances,
By
This review is from: Weehoo iGo Bicycle Pedal Trailer (Misc.)
How comfortable is this trailer? My five-year-old daughter, who isn't fully off of training wheels and never felt safe on a traditional trail-a-bike, went on a two-day 204 mile ride from Seattle to Portland on the Weehoo just weeks after we bought it. My two-year-old fits and has pedaled on it without any of the stability concerns my five-year-old had on traditional trail-a-bikes. The ride is amazingly stable, the thick mountain bike wheel and recumbent seat make bumps "fun", and the handlebar-free design leaves kids' hands free to grab drinks or to play on a mobile phone during breaks from pedaling. There are lots of nice little features that show a lot of thought has been put into the design. There are two cupholders, and the second comes in handy for snacks or electronics. The built-in panniers are well designed and quite handy, though it takes some learning to get back there during a ride while balancing everything. Metal tubes cover the chain so that your child's legs or clothes won't get hurt or greasy from rubbing up against it. The pedals have straps to hold your kids' feet so that they can use the pull stroke in addition to the push stroke. The seatbelt is secure and easy to put on. There are some downsides. At 35 pounds, the Weehoo is much heavier than most trail-a-bikes and even most adult bikes. Transporting it by car can be a challenge because it doesn't fit easily on many bicycle carriers, though it will fit on carriers that support bikes from the bottom (the Yakima hold-up works perfectly) and it can be crammed into most cars width-wise. It doesn't have multiple gears, though the single gear is fairly low so kids can help on the uphills when the rider in front most needs the help. The rear tires use schrader valves, whereas most road bikes use presta valves, so be sure to have a pump that supports the schrader valves (and a spare tube!). Fortunately, since it uses a thick mountain-bike tire, you're much more likely to get a flat in your road bike than your Weehoo.

A great transition from trailer to biking: safer & more comfortable than trail-a-bikes,

After about four weeks with the Weehoo, we LOVE LOVE LOVE it! We have a 4-year-old, tall daughter, who has outgrown a Burley-type trailer (we have a double Burley and use it for our 2-year-old), and the Weehoo is absolutely the best way to keep biking with her. Here's what we love about it:- Safe & stable. The Weehoo is super strong (somewhat heavy, but the stability is worth it), and we feel 100% safe with our daughter in it. We've ridden both on family-friendly trails, as well as along busy roads (in the SF Bay Area, as well as around Lake Tahoe), and it is solid as a rock. We like that the children are strapped in with a 3-point harness, and the feet are velcroed to the pedals. Both our daughter and her cousin have even fallen asleep while riding- a clear plus on longer rides, where a traditional trail-a-bike would not work at all with tired children. - FUN! Both our daughter, and her 4-year-old cousin can't get enough of riding in the Weehoo. We just finished a 13-mile one-way ride today, with each child taking one leg, and both thoroughly enjoyed it. The kids can pedal and feel part of the action. They can talk with us. They can look around, and really enjoy riding, not just being pulled in a trailer. - Great age range. We haven't had our 2-year-old in the Weehoo yet - but it won't be long (he's asking for it already) - and because the seat adjusts forward and back by so much, the Weehoo will still do good duty even when the kids are several years older. We've gotten numerous questions about the Weehoo, especially this week on vacation. It's a concept that just makes so much sense - a great transition from the safe, but passive Burley-type trailer, to a ride-along that still provides much more safety and comfort for long rides than a traditional trail-a-bike. Our German relatives who are visiting and have tried out the Weehoo for their child are just now investigating how to buy one for their family once they get back to Germany - and we're already discussing a second one, so we can take both kids along on longer rides.

Best Bike Trailer!!!,

We have had the Weehoo for a little over two months. It is so much fun. My 3 year old LOVES this bike. I bought this trailer because I was worried that my daughter would out-grow a typical bike trailer within a year. Traditional bike trailers also seemed kind of boring - the child just sits. With a Weehoo the child is active and feels more a part of the ride. This bike trailer will grow with my daughter so she can use it this year and for a few years into the future.Pros: 1. Fun for the child! 2. Light - easy to pull behind my bike. 3. Child is safe (strapped into seat so they can rest or even fall asleep - unlike a tagalong bike) 4. Narrow - I can easily use this even on more crowded bike trails. 5. Grows with child - you can adjust the seat as child grows. Cons: 1. Wouldn't work with more than one child. I have seen people who have put a traditional bike trailer on the Weehoo... but that seems like a lot to pull behind my bike...

We LOVE it!!!,

We LOVE our Weehoo iGo trailer!! I hooked it up to my boxcycles cargo bike so that I can go riding with all 5 of my kids. My 7 year olds LOVES riding on the weehoo and I can feel when she helps to pedal up a hill. I barely notice the extra weight except on a hill and then she helps pedal. I do take wider turns, but with the cargo bike and 4 kids in the box I already take wide turns.I reccomend this bike trailer to everyone!!!

We bought the Weehoo iGo for my 5 year old after he learned how to ride a bike and was outgrowing his Burley trailer for longer family rides. He loves it. Pulling the Weehoo is easier than pulling a normal trailer since it's the same width as a bike and actually supplies some kidpower from the child's pedaling. The only thing I wish it had was some sort of kickstand to help avoid falling over when I'm getting the bikes out or putting them away for a ride. I'm amazed at the amount of comments we get when riding. People think that it's the coolest kid transport out there (and they're right!)

Absolutely best investment! My 2 year old uses it (without being able to reach the pedals) and my 5.5 year old uses it on longer rides. The only thing that could be better is if they came up with a double model!

We wanted to upgrade our two-year-old from a bike trailer to a trail-a-bike, as he was getting bored sitting in the trailer doing nothing. Trail-a-bikes, however, look unsafe for small kids as they can doze off and/or fall at high speeds. Weehoo solvs that problem perfectly as it has a proper seat with a strap on it. Our son loves it too and pedals very happily. More importantly, he feels like a rightful bike rider on our family rides and can interact with surroundings much better than in a secluded cabin. The attachment is very stable and darn solid. The only negative I have is that it's quite heavy to handle when trying to put the little guy on it - it could use a kick stand. Nonetheless, we're extremely happy with the trailer and plan to use it for many years to come.

We wound up making an error with the product and called the company immediately upon catching the error. They were very nice and accomodating, cancelling the order without any hassle. The customer relations end of this company was phenomenol. I would use them for anything I do need to purchase bike wise in the future.

We purchased this trailer for our three-year-old, he was "too big" for our other bike trailer, yet too young for a tandem. Our family likes to do a lot of biking, and we were looking for a solution to bring our youngest along with us, while not making him feel like "the baby". The Wee-hoo has been perfect for us, our annual vacation to Cape Cod proved to be one of our best. The Wee-Hoo trailer not only was perfect for a three-year-old, we were able to bring along a lunch for the family (6 of us) in the trailer. While our three-year-old loved most of the trips, he did fall asleep on several of the longer trips. This was our major concern with having him on a tandem, with the harness on the Wee-Hoo trailer, he was safe and secure. We got a lot of looks and questions on our bike trips this summer, this trailer is definitely been one of our favorite family additions.

The Weehoo seemed absurdly expensive when I first saw it but after struggling for two years with the way inferior Morgan Trailer Bike I rented one of these for an 8 mile bike ride and my 5 year old LOVED IT! I dearly wish I would've bought one from the start. Spend the money, especially if you'd like to take longer rides!
