I'd have to say, that this game in my opinion is one of the best ones I have played. It has a lot of money swapping... stressful dice rolls which make you or break you along with positions on the board that make you go head to head with other players. I have had it for a couple months and have played it multiple times. It is similar to Monopoly but ... isn't.

My 13 year old son had been begging for this game, but we could not find it in stores. Found it on Amazon and got it in time for Christmas, and the whole family loves it! It is similiar to The Farming Game, with 'real-life' scenarios that make you think. Better than computer games that do all the brain-work for you.

Truly a fun game! My family and I could not stop playing it. We have always enjoyed the Farming Game which was the inspiration for this game. The Construction Game utilizes essentially the same structure as the Farming Game but adds some fun rules which take some of the arbitrary catastrophes out and increases the element of risk taking. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys group strategy games (I am not sure that is an official genre, but there you have it).

We first learned The Farming Game and really liked it. But when we were looking into purchasing it we came across this one and decided to purchase it instead after reading about it. We love it! It is kind of like Monopoly but a lot more fun. You purchase different kinds of construction equipment throughout the game and decide whether or not to do the different jobs that you land on based on the equipment you own and what the possible expenses and returns will be. There are even some "competitive bid" jobs that every player who owns a particular type of equipment can bid against each other to do.

You can tell it is made by the same people who make The Farming Game. Instead of "construction worker" pawns they give you the same farmers that are used in The Farming Game. The bank loan notes are also in the same denominations as in The Farming Game even though you need to borrow a lot more in this game. We made extra bank notes, some in larger denominations, because we would run out pretty fast.

We play this game a lot and it is fun for both a couple or several people. We highly recommend it!

My husband works in construction and wanted the game for his birthday after playing the farming game. I know hardly anything about construction but we both really love the game and it is so much fun whether or not you know construction. There is just enough strategy involved to make the game interesting, but not so much that it becomes tedious. It takes awhile to really finish the game, but it is easy to take a break, write down scores/assets, and pick back up again later. We have only played with the two of us so far but are planning to have some friends over to play with a larger group.

First of all, my family and I have had The Farming Game for years and fell in love with it! I recently decided to purchase The Construction Game because we loved the Farming Game so much! It did not disapoint!! I think we actually might like this game better! There is a little different strategy and it seems to take a bit longer to really get into the game... so plan on spending a whole day playing. My family will take a "break" for lunch, or whatever we need to do, and resume where we left off.

The only downside to the game that we found was that the game has puzzle pieces for the equipment instead of vinal stickers.... we are thinking that the company is being more "earth friendly"(?).... I still have the vinal stickers in The Farming Game and the puzzle pieces get knocked around when rolling dice. We prefer the vinal!

Also, the game needs higher denomination bank notes! In this game you are alloted up to $300,000 in loans during your tenth year, and the highest loan note is a $10,000, and only a few of them!! We have had to make our own notes of $50,000 and $100,000. We always keep a notebook handy so we can keep track of our loans and what year we are on better as well!

I defintily recomend this game to people who love to spend a day with family or friends really getting into a game. This is So Much Better than Monopoly because everybody has as equal a chance to win... and you don't really know who is ahead untill you finish and audit.... I can't tell you how many times I have played Monopoly where everybody "quits" because they get bored when somebody is monopolizing the board... we hardly ever finish... but with the Contruction Game and the Farming Game everybody is getting ahead together!! We play for hours!! Kuddos to the creators!! :)

Great game for people like me who are in the construction industry and like monoply type games. Love it since I first played it at a friends and had to have it ever since!!!

The age recommendation (10+) is completely inappropriate and misleading for this game. I bought it for a Christmas gift for my 38-yr-old son who is in construction, and he made a very concerted effort at reading the instructions and then declared that it would be a great game for group instruction in a college-level business or construction class. I also tried to read the instructions and quickly decided that it just wasn't worth the effort required. Show me a 10-year-old who can figure out this game, and I'll show you a budding Donald Trump. Because we took the shrink wrap off the game (didn't even open any of the game figures or cards), I'll get 50% on a refund. I gave it one star on educational value because I don't think many people, and certainly not 10-year-olds are going to advance to the stage of actual playing. If the game were actually mastered, I have no doubt that it would be of great educational value.

I can hardly believe the reviews on this game. (All 5-stars) And I think the age recommendation is deceptive. Whether it's deliberate or not, I don't know.

If you order this game, be advised that it is a very complex, challenging game. Maybe IF you decide to devote enough time to understand the rules, it might be fun. We decided against it.

Take up bridge instead. It's easier. AND more appropriate for 10-year-olds!
