5.0 out of 5 stars Nobody beats the BIZ!
Listen up youngstahs! Before all this commercial, artificial, redundant nonsense that society calls "hip hop" these days, there was the BIZ! I was skeptical when I heard the biz was back. But the buzz was out and I bought the album. I couldn't be more pleased. Biz still hits us hard with his original style and flavor. Took me back to the days of Eric B. and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good to go back once in a while
This disc is pretty good, fun to take you back to when hip-hop wasn't so um...well, hip-hop is sort of a mess right now (with a few exceptions) and this goes back to when people concentrated a bit more on simple, yet effective beats with some lyrics you could actually decipher. Given, Biz was never really known for being a supreme lyricist, but he always had you...

But the buzz was out and I bought the album. I couldn't be more pleased. Biz still hits us hard with his original style and flavor. Took me back to the days of Eric B. and Rakim, Slick Rick, Boogie Down Productions.. this list can go on for days! There may just be hope for the future of hip hop. Biz, you most definetly give me hope. Peace!

5.0 out of 5 stars Biz is definitely back!!!, December 17, 2003

Let's be honest..you heard biz markie had a new album coming out and you said "so what, Biz is old"...but just buy the album and check it out...i actually listened to almost every joint...I love "friends"..."chinese food" is aight...the single with elephant man is one of the lower points..."throw back" is a perfect Biz song, with the beat and lyrics sounding like typical Biz throughout the years...that's my personal favorite..."turn back the hands of time" is in the same vain, but not as strong as "throw back"...Just buy the album...you'll be glad you did...you might actually learn something about where hip-hop came from, instead of the joke that it is today...i use any cash money or lil' john song to prove my point...expand your musical tastes...i'm out

5.0 out of 5 stars THANK YOU, DIAOBOLICAL ONE!! THIS IS TRUE HIP HOP!!, April 16, 2004
This review is from: Weekend Warrior (Audio CD)
I had to take time out and write about this album. This is true, real, street, fun hip hop!! For all you CHINGY, CASSIDY, J-KWON, NELLY,T.I., LIL' JOHN and especially GGGGGGGG- UNIT listeners out there, GO TO YOUR LOCAL STORE, BUY BIZ MARKIES LATEST ALBUM AND LEARN SOMETHING!!! Everyone out there who feels me know exactly what I am talking about! I am so sick of this B.S. we are being force feed like this stuff on the radio airways and on videos (YES, YOU TOO B.E.T. ARE GUILTY)!! STRAIGHT GARBAGE!! I WILL SAY IT TO ANYONE!!! THANK YOU BIZ FOR KEEPIN' IT REAL AND GIVING HIP HOP AND IT'S FANS MUCH RESPECT!!! I love the entire album!! It is fresh, creative, orginal but old school at the same time. From "Tear S**T Up" to "Get Down" to "Chinese Food" to "Throwback" to "Friends" to his country interludes, Biz never missed a beat!! A true Hip Hop Classic!!! Please, I am begging for more "True School" artist to come back like Biz did and bless your fans with quality hip hop. Artists like Tribe Called Quest, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick. Come back and show these "STUDIO THUGS AND PIMPS" how is done!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tha Diabolical B-I-Z M to the A R K I E, November 30, 2003
This review is from: Weekend Warrior (Audio CD)
Damn, teh Diabolical BIZ is back!!! This album reminds me of his classic albums. I put this in and for the duration of the album I thought it was 1990 again. He takes it back, and it sounds just like the Biz we all knew and loved back in the day. Well, though of us who are old enough. Biz is one of the all time greats, enough said. He is still simple on the mic, which isn't a bad thing. He can still hold his own. How can you not like him? He's goofy, but he's Hip-Hop. Hell, I can't even be mad that Puffy has a beat on here. What really set this album apart, is what it came with. The "hot" thing, is to include a bonus DVD, with behind the scene footage, cool, but everyone seems to do it. Where I ordered my copy from, it came with a bonus Viewmaster Reel, anyone eld enough to know what that is. Will appericate how freaking ill that is. Long live the Biz, I am glad you came back B-I-Z.
Cop this album, old school doesn't get better then he.

4.0 out of 5 stars More rhymes than Muhammad Ali, January 28, 2008
This review is from: Weekend Warrior (Audio CD)
Biz Markie the clown prince of old school hip hop displays his lyrical powers on yet another dope release. Just as silly as ever, Biz hasn't lost a step when spitting bars on this album. Listening to this album really takes me back to when Biz dropped his classic albums like Goin Off. Weekend Warrior has some decent production to it, some of the hooks are weak but the lyrics are dope. If you enjoy the lyrics/silliness of Biz this is definitely an album to have along with the other Biz Markie abums.

This disc is pretty good, fun to take you back to when hip-hop wasn't so um...well, hip-hop is sort of a mess right now (with a few exceptions) and this goes back to when people concentrated a bit more on simple, yet effective beats with some lyrics you could actually decipher. Given, Biz was never really known for being a supreme lyricist, but he always had you entertained if nothing else.

There are a lot of good tracks on this disc, but it loses a few stars on the ranking scale because of the samples in the middle of the cd. I'm not sure why you would lace those samples on tracks and then put the tracks one after another on the disc, makes for a good portion to skip.

Anyway, still enjoyable and nice to see him back.
