4.0 out of 5 stars AN ACES READING

When the seven women in Fern Michaels's "Weekend Warriors" get their dander up, dander is not just a bit of ire - they're dealing out dynamite. In addition to friendship, what binds these women together is a mutual feeling that the legal system has done them wrong. Prior to forming a sisterhood, each felt helpless, victimized. This is definetly one of the worst books I have ever read, if not the worst. As other readers have pointed out, it borderlines on feeling a bit creepy. On the one hand, I can understand the desire to take revenge into one's own hands - rape in particular is an issue that our legal system often isn't able to handle adequately. And while I certainly felt no sympathy for...

4.0 out of 5 stars AN ACES READING, September 15, 2005

When the seven women in Fern Michaels's "Weekend Warriors" get their dander up, dander is not just a bit of ire - they're dealing out dynamite. In addition to friendship, what binds these women together is a mutual feeling that the legal system has done them wrong. Prior to forming a sisterhood, each felt helpless, victimized. Now, they're empowered and going to set things right.

Founder of the group is rich Myra Rutledge whose daughter was run down by a man with diplomatic immunity. He could not be prosecuted and Myra is left to grieve. After some time she realizes that perhaps there is something she can do and turns to her late daughter's best friend, lawyer Nikki Quinn, who witnessed the fatal accident. Together they find the remaining members of their avenging party.

First person to be vindicated is a woman who was raped by a group of motor bikers, the Weekend Warriors. When I say these women seek revenge in spades - think Lorena Bobbitt.

Laural Merlington gives an aces reading to this tale of women who are mad as hell and not going to take it anymore.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a "nice" book, just a fun and good one!, October 17, 2006

Unlike some of the others, I do find the anger real. Is it hard to sympathize? Yes, these women are doing vigilante justice, they are not sweet and shy, they are pissed and out for business. BUT it seems to me that there are stories like this where the vigilante is a man, and people can sympathize.

This is a quick read, I didn't buy it expecting perfection, I bought it to keep me interested. I am surprised at the anger express by some of the other reviewers. `I am never going to buy another Zebra book'? Since I am not a Zane Grey fan should I give up on Dorchester?

There are parts of the story where you know it just couldn't happen the way described but most novels have parts that just couldn't happen. The dialogue was weaker than I expected and the characters less developed, but I expect that is so the series has room to grow.

Don't buy this book if you are excepting sweet and nice. This is not a "nice" story but it keeps you cheering most of the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Go Girls!, August 26, 2005
This book kept me up late for two nights. I did not want to put it down. I enjoyed the story, I sympathized as well as empathized with the characters and I wanted in on the action! Ms. Michaels really out did herself with this one and I was left wondering if she was writing from personal experience. I can't wait to get to the rest of the series!

Fern Michaels puts into words, what I think, a lot of women feel everyday. "Weekend Warriors" is a great book to feed your imagination on how to deal with injustice in a woman's world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book Review, January 29, 2007
This book was an awesome beginning for her series. I had read books 2, 3, and 4 before I got book 1. It sets the stages for the rest of the books. A wonderful read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Weekend Warriors by Fern Michaels, August 17, 2006

(REAL NAME)
I have been a Fern Michaels' reader for several years, and have many of her books. However, I picked up "Vendetta" not realizing it was part of the series, "The Sisterhood". I was hooked. I had to have the first and second book in this series, as I had already aquired book 4, "The Jury". This is an excellent series, and I recommend it to anyone, who feels they have had an injustice done to them. This series definitely gets revenge!

Cudos to Amazon for getting it here in the nick of time to put things in order!

1.0 out of 5 stars Yuck!, August 18, 2005
This is definetly one of the worst books I have ever read, if not the worst. As other readers have pointed out, it borderlines on feeling a bit creepy. On the one hand, I can understand the desire to take revenge into one's own hands - rape in particular is an issue that our legal system often isn't able to handle adequately. And while I certainly felt no sympathy for the rapists themselves, something about the whole book left me feeling rather disturbed.

Subject matter aside, the writing style is truly the worst I've ever encountered. The diologue was painful to read...almost unbelievable in its simplicity. Also, the inconsistencies were obvious - I cannot understand how the editor missed such big errors as character name confusion and time frame inconsistencies. Not that they were detrimental to the story, but it only added to the overall immature feeling of the book. Also, the characters were the flattest I've ever read.

I would give this book zero stars if I could. I'm only wasting my time writing this in order to encourage others not to waste their money, or time reading this (although it is almost laughably short with huge print).

1.0 out of 5 stars Sick and twisted, do not waste your money or time, May 10, 2009

I agree with all the 1 star reviews. I too, wish I could give it 0 stars. The characters had no depth and took unbelievable risks in exacting their revenge. The whole thing was creepy and unrealistic. The people who deserve justice are those of us readers who wasted our money on this sick and twisted book. I threw it across the room when I was done.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rank Amateur !, August 12, 2005
Where is the Fern Michaels who wrote the great Texas, Kentucky, & Las Vegas series? "Weekend Warriors" is not even a good First Novel. What a disappointment! Although the revengeful plot is interesting and I somewhat agree with it, the writing is juvenile - I feel like I spun through the outline of a book which never got written - no character depth. If you're desperate for a $1 easy read (not worth any more), OK. Otherwise, forget it.
