From toddler to teen, Dianna Bratcher was hopelessly in love with Greg ORourke, her brother Toms best friend. It is years, however, before Greg asks Diannavia Tomto be his wife, and then only for a weekend to promote a business deal. Although Tom and Greg are seven years her senior, at twenty-four, a mature Dianna believes she is finally immune to the ORourke mystique. She hasnt seen Greg in nine years but, because she has not been able to fall in love with anyone else, and because she is seriously contemplating marriage to Griffin Mayo, Dianna agrees to Tom and Gregs latest dare. She refuses to be bullied, however, and will play the part strictly on her terms. Beautified, emotionally fortified and mentally braced, Dianna believes she has properly prepared for a face-to-face. She has not, however, anticipated the chaos Greg detonates inside her from Hello.
My oldest granddaughter recently swooned and said, "I can't wait until Mama says I'm old enough to read one of your books."
I write romantic/suspense. Nine have been published. CANDLESTICKS, my third hardcover, was released in June 2010.
I wrote my first novel in 1982. I had finished eleven manuscripts when No. 8 sold in 1999.
Sometimes the stories get a little steamy. An old college friend asked my husband Bill how he felt about my writing "smutty books." Bill grinned and said, "My stock has gone up around town since she started writing those books."
Bill doesn't read fiction--not just my books, but any fiction. A lawyer, he's into history and politics and biographies. He finally got a taste of my work when THE RIBBON MURDERS was released as an audio book. He insisted we listen to it in the car. He recognized some of the characters' personalities, and quite a bit of the dialogue, much of which originated with him. He said he plans to be more careful what he says around me from now on. It's too late.
I have a degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma and am a former newspaper reporter. I work half-days in my husband and older son's law office, bookkeeper, probate clerk and general flunky. We have four grown children.
