Best appointment book on the market,

This review is from: Weekly Appointment Book, Hourly Appointments, Nonrefillable, 4-7/8 x 8, Black (Office Product)
I have had quite a few appointment books over the years - and have checked out several others. I find this to be the best. It has a tab for each month, a calendar for each month plus space to write important notes for that month. This is in addition to the weekly 2 page spread Mon-Sun. But best of all, the pages can be removed and new ones inserted each year. I save the contents of my books every year so this way I don't have to buy a whole new book or find room to store the old covers for that matter. Great organizer for the price and a good price on Amazon.

Used this type of calendar every year for over 2 decades,

I've always used this type of calendar ever since I can recall, both at home and at work in the 8x11 size. I've always paid top dollar (between $30-$40) at an office supply store just because it was the only place I could find it at the time. When I found it at Amazon, I was hooked. Best price, arrives in great condition, and for a calendar with individual columns that have 15-minute incremental sections with a full week at a glance, it helps me keep track of everything!
This past year (for 2010) I tried saving a bit of money and went with the 5x8 size vs my preferred 8x11 and regret doing so. The pages are segmented with Mon-Wed on the left, Thur-Fri on the right, with Sat/Sun sharing the bottom section together on the right. Mon-Fri are segmented into hourly appointments while Sat/Sun are lined but blank (no times). I forgot how much extraneous crap I stuff inside the various weeks as reminders of things. A simple appointment card is fine, but I stick sale brochures, coupons for weekly specials at the grocery stores, notes of notes, reminders of projects I want to start at certain times (i.e., starter plants for the garden), etc in the pages and with this smaller version, stuff is falling out all over the place. If I use paper clips, the calendar gets all bulgy and hard to work with when flipping to future pages to add something. One might ask why I'm sticking stuff IN the pages rather than writing it down ON the pages - well, for example: if I want to remember to turn on the circuit breakers for the central air compressor 24 hours before using the a/c unit (as required) and I write it down on say, April 2...April 2 rolls around with a 4' Nor'Easter Blizzard (Yup, it has happened), then I have to reschedule. By just sticking a note inside that page, I can keep moving the note as needed and I won't forget. Next year I'll be back for this calendar, but will definitely get the larger version as I have for many years past.

These is a great size for a date book. The pages allow me just about the right amount of space to cover what I need. What I don't like about it is that the plastic cover does not stay closed its own, so the book cannot be closed to protect the pages. Also, although I have read objections elsewhere about too many blank pages, there is not a single extra page included with the book. I would have preferred at least 5 to 10 blank pages at the back for notes.
