4.0 out of 5 stars Some good ideas......, May 26, 2008
By
Kavity Killer (denver, colorado United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 4 Weeks To An Organized Life With AD/HD (Paperback)
What I took away from this is the power of visualization and developing visual memory as an another tool. I didn't however finish the four week program. Part of this, sure, is ADD, but part of it was the excruciatingly slow pace at which it progressed. When I have a desk full of bills to pay, I don't like directions to "spend no more than 10 minutes on your desk today." It just doesn't fly. To be fair, this would probably be a great book for someone who had no organizational systems in place, was completely overwhelmed, and had no idea where or how to start. I know there's many out there like that. I do have a system of sorts, so this wasn't a good fit for me. If you have ADD and have no clue where to start, by all means try it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Three Cheers for 4 weeks, November 27, 2007
This review is from: 4 Weeks To An Organized Life With AD/HD (Paperback)

This is a must have if you either have ADD or treat others that have ADD!
I am a Clinical Social Worker that has been treating patients with ADD for almost a decade and I actually learned some new techniques from this book. I have recommended it to most of my patients and they really like it!
The begining chapters provide a clear understanding of the nuances of adult ADD in a easy to read and enjoyable fashion using case examples. The organizing portion is written in the same easy fun style with headlines and "Activity" sections. Working the activities are quick and interesting building on strengths of the ADD mind. This book is easily worth the money. Also a great Holiday gift for a good friend or family member.

5.0 out of 5 stars "4 Weeks" COMPASSIONATE AND PRACTICAL, November 25, 2007
This review is from: 4 Weeks To An Organized Life With AD/HD (Paperback)
4 WEEKS TO AN ORGANIZED LIFE WITH AD/HD

"4 Weeks To An Organized Life With AD/HD" is one of the best books I have read on understanding and dealing with AD/HD. It's clear, informative, compassionate and practical and provides a more comprehensive look at AD/HD than the title suggests. The authors' up-to- date, scientific explanation of this neurobiological disorder uses language that those new to ADHD can easily understand. This complex disorder has behaviors that are continually and painfully misattributed to psychological or moral motivation. "4 Weeks" strongly establishes the biological source of the shaming behaviors that are AD/HD. I have been providing therapy to adults with AD/HD for over twenty years, and I think this is a book that all of my clients, their families and other mental health professionals would find helpful.
