5.0 out of 5 stars A TIMELESS QUALITY
I bought this album on cassette after viewing the movie for the very first time. Each song here seems to conjure up (in my mind) the mood of the scene in the film it was taken from. 3.0 out of 5 stars good but incomplete soundtrack
a good selection of music from this 80's iconic film however no music from Jack Nitzsche is featured at all and this is a crying shame.

would anyone know where i can find the piece of music towards the end of the film where Elizabeth leaves john's apartment for the last time, this music is beautiful !!

5.0 out of 5 stars A TIMELESS QUALITY, January 18, 2004
This review is from: 9 1/2 Weeks: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I bought this album on cassette after viewing the movie for the very first time. Each song here seems to conjure up (in my mind) the mood of the scene in the film it was taken from. Needless to say, when I upgraded my system, this was one of the first CDs I purchased. An excellent collection of songs that thankfully bucked the trend of the time of stringing together hit singles of the day on a soundtrack which would ultimately date it to a certain era. I dare you to put it on today and tell me it doesn't have a timeless quality about it. It is a shame that Devo's version of "Bread And Butter" didn't make it onto the American cut of the movie though. The song itself isn't even listed as being on the soundtrack in the credits of the film (while the Nubeats are listed under additional music for their version of the song used in the feast scene). Just F.Y.I., the reggae tune everyone is looking for is "Savior" by Winston Grennan and is off of his Clean Slate (2000) CD. The Billie Holiday song is called "Strange Fruit" and is available on at least 7 different CDs with that as the album title. Now if only someone would release the entire movie soundtrack on CD I'd be in heaven. Where is Rhino when I need them?

Here's a list of songs in the movie that didn't make it on the albumn:

1.Love and Happiness-Al Green
2.The Strayaway Child-Andy Narell
3.Savior-Winston Grennan(reggae song)
4.Strange Fruit-Billie Holiday
5.Selection from "Ambient Music I: Music for Airports"- Brain Eno
6.Apregiater-Jean Michel Jarre
7.Voices-Brian Eno

Good luck getting them all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Spicy, Sexy 80's Tracks Are Delicious to the Ear!, December 7, 1999

When I first picked up this CD, I only wanted a couple of cuts but I had no idea the entire album would be so alluring! These songs were appropriately selected for the movie as well. If you close your eyes you can almost visualize Kim Basinger slow dancing to the beautiful "Slave to Love." The instrumental "Cannes" is a soft, fantastic voyage within the mind. There's lots of smooth pop dance here. Every time you listen to it, you'll crave for more!

The songs on the soundtrack are all really good. It's a fun compilation. BUT, none of the score music, composed by Jack Nitzsche, for the movie is on this soundtrack. I have been unable to locate the score music so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars YOU CAN PUT THAT CHERRY IN MY MOUTH, August 29, 2001

I WAS IN BARCELLONA SPAIN WHEN I SAW THE BILLBOARD FOR 9 1/2 WEEKS.
I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A NICE MOVIE TO SEE. I WENT IN AND I'VE NEVER BEEN THE SAME.
THE INCREDIBLE SENSUALITY JUST SANK ITS TEETH INTO MY VERY SOUL AND THE IMPACT REMAINED ETERNAL.
THIS IS A STORY ABOUT LOVE,SACRIFICE,MANIPULATION,POSSESION,AND FINALLY COLLAPSE.
THE MUSIC IS A PERFECT FOIL TO THE IMAGERY AS IT TAKES YOU ON A TRIP THRU ECSTACY AND PAIN.
ARTISTS SUCH AS JOHN TAYLOR OF DURAN DURAN AND BRYAN FERRY GIVES YOU THE PULSE TO OBSESSIVE LUST AND LOVE AS THEY TELL THE TALES OF "I DO WHAT I DO JUST TO HAVE YOU" AND "I'M A SLAVE TO LOVE".
JOE COCKER GETS SOULFUL AND NASTY IN THE SWEATY GRIND OF "YOU CAN LEAVE YOUR HAT ON".
LUBA GIVES YOU THE FEELING OF OPTIMISM AND BLISS AS SHE BELTS OUT "THE BEST IS YET TO COME" AND ANNIE LENNOX SLOWS IT DOWN TO A CRAWL AS SHE CARESSES YOUR EARS WITH ECSTACY IN "THIS CITY NEVER SLEEPS".
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE THE SULTRY HYPNOTIC "BLACK ON BLACK" BY DALBELLO AND THE ENIGMATIC "CANNES' BY STEWART COPELAND.
TRUELY A RIDE TO LEAVE YOU BEGGING FOR MORE.
C'MON AND TASTE IT....
O.F.

Trying to find the Piano Piece playing at the end of the movie. When She leaves Johns Apartment and is walking down the street, it is playing. It is also played various times throughout the film.

This review is from: 9 1/2 Weeks: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
If your engine still revs, you and your romantic partner will love this movie! And if you enjoyed the movie, "you can keep your hat on" with the music. A must-have for your library.
