Surely every dyspeptic American knows the routine by now: stop smoking; reduce caffeine, alcohol, sugar, and fat while increasing fiber in the diet. In addition, Hoffman, director of the Hoffman Center for Holistic Medicine in New York City, suggests that sufferers rule out food sensitivity/allergy, yeast infection, or parasitic infestation as a cause of gastrointestinal distress. He recommends an array of natural digestive remedies (chiefly aloe vera gel, bitters, and garlic) as opposed to commercial antacids, which he soundly condemns. Also host of a weekly radio show on medicine, Hoffman writes in a chatty, entertaining style. He reviews physiology, including some interesting trivia, and lists menus for stages of recovery from digestive upset. His basic message, however, is not a new one, but libraries with demand for the subject may want an additional title.

this book is very helpful in dealing with a very personal problem. It was, in fact, more informative than my doctor. After experimenting as the book suggested, I finally found something that helped.

Am still in the process of reading the book. It was recommended by a friend who also suggested it to some of his friends. All of those who read it and followed it can attest to the validity of its content. One of the readers only used the recommendations partially and they STILL say there was an improvement in their health.
