Editorial Reviews

The legendary "Three Brothers" of Hong Kong Cinema co-star in Wheels On Meals, a deliriously entertaining action-comedy that qualifies as essential Hong Kong Cinema! Thomas (Jackie Chan) and David (Yuen Biao) are a couple of kung-fu fighting friends who run a fast food truck in sunny Spain. But when a beautiful pickpocket named Sylvia (former Miss Spain Lola Forner) runs off with their money, the buddies are drawn into a wild and wacky adventure! Various shady individuals are after Sylvia, including private investigator Moby (Sammo Hung), a former friend of Thomas and David's, who's working for unknown individuals. But when Sylvia's life is put in danger, the three friends join together to do what they do best: fight, fight and fight some more! Wheels On Meals provides hard-hitting action and lots of laughs courtesy of the unbeatable trio of Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao, whose other collaborations like Project A and Dragons Forever rank as some of the most enjoyable Hong Kong movies ever made! Cast: Sammo Hung Kam-Bo, Yuen Biao, Jackie Chan, Lola Forner, Benny Urquidez, Keith Vitali, Paul Chang Chung, Richard Ng Yiu-Hon, John Shum Kin-Fun. Uncut version Languages:English & Cantonese,

5.0 out of 5 stars Action & Comedy... What a mix..., November 28, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Wheels on Meals [VHS] (VHS Tape)
One of Jackie Chan's all time best movies, and for good reason. What made Jackie Chan was seamless action, charm, and wit. This movie has more of each than anything else out there. It has some of the best fight scenes of Jackie Chan, Benny Urquidez, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao's careers (including the fight between Chan and Urquidez, arguably the best fight scene ever filmed)! It's also one of the funniest and most charming of all the movies Chan and friends have done. The memorable characters are what have defined Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao as actors! Somewhat of an obscure movie that didn't get the credit it deserved in the United States, this movie is a must see for anyone even remotely likes Jackie Chan movies. Also look for Project A, Armour of God, Operation Condor (Armour of God 2), Police Story, Supercop (Police Story 3), Rumble in the Bronx, First Strike, Mr. Nice Guy, and Dragons Forever.

4.0 out of 5 stars Old School, April 22, 2008
This review is from: Weels on Meals (DVD)
A classic collaboration between "the brothers", Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan, and Yuan Biao, directed by Hung and packed with all the familiar faces of 80's Hong Kong cinema and also the amazing skills of real life kickboxing champion Benny "the Jet" Urquidez.

The story, set in Spain, is one of how two workaholic Chinese (Chan and Biao) and their gormless detective friend Moby (Hung) get pulled around by the nose by a working girl/countess while trying to protect her from her evil uncle, a count, who wants to stop her inheriting what is rightfully hers.

Plenty of action, plenty of Hong Kong humour, plenty of kicking and jumping around. The finale fight is one of the best ever recorded, and is from a team that didn't use CGI, didn't use wires and didn't let unfit actors do their own fighting. These guys know what they are doing, and it shows. Highly recommendable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chan vs "The Jet" part 1, July 20, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Wheels on Meals [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Jackie Chan versus Benny "The Jet" in the last fight is all you need to know to buy this movie. It is the best fight I have ever seen in any movie ever.

Wheels on Meals is a comedy first, keep that in mind. Dont watch this expecting it to be an action packed Jackie Chan movie cause its not. This is the funnest movie Jackie Chan has ever done though. If you want a great comedy then this is for you.

Jackie and Yuen Biao sell food from a "hi-tech" (hi-tech for early 80s) van, all computerized with the works. This movie takes place in Barcelona, Spain. Jackie and Yuen both fall for a gorgeous woman, she keeps getting in trouble (being a thief and all)and they keep helping her out even though she steals their money everytime. Sammo pretends to be a Private Investigator and is hired to find the woman Jackie and Yuen keep helping. Lots of laughs throughout the film.

The only real action in the movie is the car chase scene involving there van, and the other action part is the great finale where Jackie and Benny "The Jet" fight in the GREATEST FIGHT EVER! You have to see this fight! IT IS THAT GOOD!

All in all this is a very funny movie with not much action, but definatley worth the money.
