Video Review Of This Awesome Weider 200 Power Tower,
This review is from: Weider 200 Power Tower (Sports)
This is a detailed video review so you can see this awesome tower while it is assembled. Key points: * I am 6'4'' and weigh 205 lbs. Definite Pros: * Great to use with P90X * Lots of space to do wide, close, and underhand pull ups * A bar to rest your feet on to make pull ups easier * Great for push ups because it has built in push up bars * Great for ab raises with padding for your back * Great for tricep dips using the extended tricep dip bars * Slides on the carpet easily if you need to move it * Platforms to do calf raises on * Just plain awesome Potential Cons: * Comes un-assembled - took about 2 hours to assemble * I am using it on carpet, which causes slight movement when doing tricep dips * Minimum ceiling height is about 7 feet 8 inches for setting this thing up Other Info: *** Dimensions and weight in the box before assembly *** Weider 200 Power Tower 58.5" x 22.5" x 10.5" 99 lbs *** Dimensions after assembly *** * Maximum height of tower: 83 inches (6 feet 11 inches) high. * Maximum width (pullup bar): 41 inches (3 feet 5 inches) wide. * My ceiling height: 92 inches (7 feet 8 inches) high. Watch the video and enjoy!

Good enough piece of equipment,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Weider 200 Power Tower (Sports)
The equipment arrived earlier than the seller stated which was a good thing. Assembly was fairly straight forward, having a good selection of tools in my shop helped speed assembly although you can put it together with their recommended tools it'll just take a little longer.
The unit is well built and sturdy and is perfect for home use. If you are looking for a gym quality unit this isn't it but you're also not paying what you would for gym quality. All in all a good piece of equipment for a good price. I do have one complaint that really brings the rating down for me and that is customer service by the manufacturer. There was one small piece of hardware that was missing, not a big deal as I had something that would work in my shop. I tried to register the product and kept getting errors. I tried to register from several different computers on several different networks and kept getting the same error. Oh well, so much for registering it for warranty purposes. I sent several emails to explain the registration issues and to ask about the missing hardware. It has been several months now and I still haven't gotten a response from the manufacturer. I realize that the piece of equipment wasn't hugely expensive and that the issues are minor but one would think that I would at least have gotten a response. I won't buy from the manufacturer again. Seller= A Equipment= B+ Manufacturer follow up= F

The Weider power station performs well. I have just two issues, one of which I resolved myself. The first is that while doing dips, the station is a bit unstable. I remedied this by bolting it to the floor. It still sways a bit but it is tolerable. The second issue is that I wish the backrest for the leg raises was a bit higher. Overall both these issues are minor at best. I have used the power station for about a month now and am very happy with the results.

Excellent addition to Home Gym,

I live in a condo where none of the doorways have enough room on both sides to use one of those doorway pull-up bars, but I've always wanted to find something since pull-ups are such an excellent upper body exercise. I first found this product in Skymall magazine for roughly the same price including shipping that it was listed by this seller. I was somewhat worried about how much space it would take up and how sturdy it would be but I found it relatively easy to put together and very soundly built. My only suggestion is that I would avoid putting it on a carpeted surface if possible. I have a cheap foam mat on top of my carpet and the tower sits on top of the mat. It seems to be stable enough on that but I would recommend a hard flat surface if possible. When it was on just carpet that was relatively plush it did have a bit of a wobble but at no time doing either pull-ups or dips did it begin to tip over.

Good addition to your home gym,

This Weider 200 Power Tower is a nice piece for your home gym and a good value. I've owned it for a few months and have been pleased with the product. It's a sturdy piece of equipment and was easy to assemble.
It took me less than an hour to put it together. The only tools you'll need are two adjustable wrenches and a phillips head screwdriver. The instructions are well written and simple to follow. This is what I like about this pull-up tower: 1. Sturdiness: I weigh about 200lbs and there is only a little bouncing or shaking when I do pull-ups, dips, or leg raises. It's designed with two stabilization skids that help to prevent shaking. Of course there will always be some bouncing / shaking with these towers, unless you buy a commercial pull-up tower (usually starting at over $500) or bolt yours to the floor. I keep mine in my garage, not bolted to the floor, and it shakes only slightly. I've tried kipping pull-ups as well, and depending on your weight and how hard you kip, you are likely to have some movement in the tower. The standard gymnastics kip or butterfly kip will shake and move the tower. 2. Dimensions: At 85 inches tall this item will fit in any room with 8 foot ceiling, which is fairly standard in most houses. This gives you plenty of clearance for your head in a room with 8' or higher ceiling. 3. Overall design: The pull-up bar has decent padding that won't quickly wear down. The push-up bars are placed far enough from the lower cross bar to give you plenty head clearance. The pull-up bar is on the opposite side from the dips / leg raise side, giving you plenty of room to do your pull-ups, especially if you do kipping pull-ups, knees to elbows, or ankles to the bar. I've tried all of these exercises on this machine with no significant problems. What I don't like or would change: The only slight draw back in my opinion is the cross beam on the bottom of the tower, which I would prefer to have raised to avoid any possible contact with the feet during pullups (especially if you use a pullup assist band, which tend to pull your feet forward). Other than that minor complaint, I've been satisfied with this purchase.

Once again I get reminded of the lesson: "you get what you pay for". I might as well have taken $170.00 and burned it. This product is way overrated as far as weight capacity. 300 lbs? HA! I am 6'2" and 230 lbs and I cannot safely use the dip bars. They are long and create a lot of torque on the TWO PIECE and TOO THIN main uprights. The pipes twist and flex so much that I just have to stop the reps. Has everyone seen the video of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge oscillating and crashing into the river? That is what starts to happen when you use this piece of equipment. The pull-up experience is not much better. At the end of your reps when you are trying to grind out that last one, you could flip this thing onto its side. This thing is narrow. The frame is only 24" wide. Weider advertises something like 42" wide but that is just the width of the pull-up bar itself. Think about how much side-to-side stability you might get with a 24" wide contraption like this made of thin wall pipes with multiple joints. That is right, ... NONE! This is an absolute piece of garbage and Weider should be ashamed to put this onto the market. The guy in their photos must weigh 170 lbs max. If you are 200 lbs or more DO NOT BUY THIS FLIMSY PIECE OF JUNK! (and yes, I put it together correctly and it is on a level concrete floor) Very dissatisfied.

Am 6ft, 195lbs. Sturdy frame, good materials, like the push-up option b/c takes the strain off of wrists. The dip arms shake slightly but not too much. Great value, recommended

I weigh almost 270 and I've been using it for 2 years.,
This review is from: Weider 200 Power Tower (Sports)
When I first started the research that lead to my purchase of the Weider 200 Power Tower, I was only looking for a dip-bar. The more I read, the more I kept coming back to this item. Weight capacity was a major concern for me, as I (240lbs, at the time) was close to, or over, to the weight limit of almost every possible item. Ultimately, I decided on the Weider 200, because it passed the look test, though it was only rated for 225lbs.
I assembled it by myself and it took about 4 hours, but I recommend doing so with a partner, a second pair of hands would probably greatly reduce assembly time. The only issue I encountered was that one of the upward-facing arm pads had one pre-bored hole that seemed to lack threads for the screw. I called Weider and a replacement arrived within a few weeks, no questions asked. Now, I have moved the power tower 4 times, and needed to partially disassemble it to do so. The moving process was not difficult, and it can still handle my body weight without much of an issue. I weighed 240 when I purchased it and weigh-in at about 270 now. I use it at least once every couple of days and have ZERO complaints. I use it for dips almost exclusively and it handles my current weight without flinching. (I check the base and frame for bends fairly regularly, and have not noticed any bends. Take this review for what it is worth, as I do not have extensive experience with similar items for comparison. However, I did try using the AKR Space Saver and Apex Power Towers in sporting goods store while researching for my purchase, and both frames did not look like they could handle my body weight. So, I went with the Weider 200 because it passed the look test and I have been very, very satisfied.

Since I purchased this product, there were manufacturing issues with the product. If you are looking for a stable platform to do pull-ups/dips LOOK ELSEWHERE! After I took it out of the box and tried to put it together, it was unstable and wobbled. I followed the directions exactly and it still would wobble to the point it was unusable. I contacted the seller, who told me to contact the manufacturer. After repeated times contacting the manufacturer and them telling me they were dealing with my problem and would send me new parts, etc, (and never receiving anything), I tried contacting the seller who told me it had been more than 30 days and wouldn't do anything. With my job, I travel for long lengths of time and forgot to write this review. Hopefully this helps someone else to avoid my mistake. Good luck.
