Lots of smelly gas and some floating fat in the toilet,
This review is from: Alli Weight-Loss Aid, Orlistat 60mg Capsules, 60-Count Starter Pack (Health and Beauty)
I started taking alli 3 days ago and today was the first time I noticed anything different happening with my body. First, I had to go to the bathroom really bad after my breakfast+alli and there were floating drops of fat. Then, I cannot stop passing really nasty smelling gas, and I'm continuously afraid to pass gas for fear I will pass something more. However, seeing the fat come out kind of makes me happy. Fat is good for you, but I don't mind sending a bit of it down the shute. This experiment is pretty cool so far. And it does make me watch what I eat a little more. But make sure you don't just eat empty carbs now, you still need your complex carbs, your lean meat and your veggies and fruits. That's my goal. I know this is kind of gross, but it's an honest review from someone who is using this pill. I also checked out [...] for info about orlistat before starting. You should do it too. Especially pay attention to metabolism, interactions and adverse events.

Side Effects without the Weight Loss,

Alli Weight Loss Aid / B000OWN65UI've been faithful to a low-fat, low-calorie diet for over a year now, but the weight loss has been slow going - my family metabolism just seems to be *really* efficient and fights giving up every single pound. I would really like something safe and effective to help me along, and my doctor refused to even let me try any other weight loss pills on account that the stimulants could be damaging to a pre-existing heart flutter. Alli seemed promising, though, so I thought I'd try it. I was a little concerned about the side effects, because they didn't sound, ah, *pleasant*, but I noted that the Alli literature said: "Treatment effects can be lessened if you stick to reduced-calorie, low-fat meals that average 15 grams of fat per meal." Well, now, that sounded a lot more promising. I track my diet religiously, and I know for a fact that I hit that bar every single day, so maybe the "lessened" treatment effects won't be so bad for me. The first few weeks on Alli, it didn't seem so bad. I had a LOT of "oh, gosh, must get to bathroom NOW" moments, but this was more like urgent diarrhea than any kind of "leakage", so it wasn't a huge problem. I *do* work outside the home during the day, but I can pretty much get up and go to the restroom whenever I want, so it wasn't a big deal. If I had a meeting, or something I couldn't easily excuse myself out of, I just wouldn't take Alli around that time and I'd have a no-fat lunch that day to compensate, but I *always* took Alli for breakfast and dinner, without fail. During those first few weeks, I also didn't lose any weight. I stayed on my diet and exercise program as before, but Alli didn't really make a difference. I was disappointed that Alli wasn't providing the kind of results that a lot of the other online users were seeing, but I was happy to keep seeing it through. Recently, though, the side effects have gotten MUCH worse and more noticeable - there's an oily "leakage" that keeps up inconveniently and some of my clothes have been soiled. The leakage smells truly terrible, and is very hard to remove from the skin - trying to scrub it off with toilet paper is akin to trying to remove baby oil with a paper towel - it just seems to spread. My skin is raw from the constant cleaning, and I'm not ashamed to give up the good fight on Alli. I gave it a good go, and finally decided that the treatment effects just weren't worth the trouble, even if I had been losing weight, which I wasn't. I don't know that my review will be helpful to anyone else, since everyone's body is different, and maybe Alli will 'click' with your body and you'll experience a great weight loss product. I just wanted to weigh in that if you're thinking - like I did - that a low fat diet will prevent the worst of the treatment effects, I can honestly say that was not the case for me, personally, but of course your mileage may vary. Good luck! ~ Ana Mardoll

Yes, this week I've been eating low fat, exercising 1.5-2 hours each day and watching the calorie intake. I also follow Weight Watchers.Even though I did not pass the recommended fat intake per meal yesterday, I had an awful surprise this morning. Two changes of clothing and having to wear a maxi pad the rest of the day has me rethinking this diet plan. All of this trouble today for having used 1 tablespoon of olive oil in an entire dish of mostly vegetables and poached chicken last night? geez I naturally eat low fat, but wanted an extra something to help get rid of this weight. I'm thinking now that this is not for me. Thank goodness I don't have a job and was at home. Oh and I had to clean the chair I was sitting in as well...keep that in mind before using this product.

Well here is a cold, honest and disgusting review of Alli.I'm not heavy, but i've been wanting to shed off about 5 to 10 pounds for the last year now. The problem was I was just too lazy. Well I finally got my act together and started walking an hour a day and eating better. After about a week of doing this (at this time I had shaved off about 1 or 2 pounds) my slightly overweight boss told me about Alli and how he had been using it for about a week and he already felt a couple pounds lighter. My first thought was sure, if this can double the speed of my weight loss i'll do it. So I quickly went out to a local Kroger to pick up the 60 capsule starter kit. I read the info that came with it that night and started taking the pills the next morning before every meal. The first 2 days I didn't notice any kind of side effects. I thought all the reviews I read on the web were from people who ate nothing but junk because I was eating decent and nothing happened. Well on day 3 after I had my cereal/pill combo in the morning, within minutes I felt kinda gassy and I passed it as usual. Later, when I got up, the inside of my pants felt greesey. Was I sweating? No.. something much worse. Apparently I had passed the 1/4 fat that Alli blocks. Apparently it took about 3 days to finally hit me with the side effects. Needless to say I quickly threw my clothes in the washing machine and took a shower. The stuff sure is sneaky... I had no idea thats what was going on down there until it was too late. I'd suggest anyone who has a hard time controlling their gas to not take this pill in public as you may be in for some embarassment. As for me, I now know to hold everything until I get home. The bright side is that i've lost more weight since I started this pill and it seemingly works great other then these nasty side effects. The funny thing is that I eat mostly lean meats, wheat bread and swiss cheese since i started my diet and I still get the side effects. I can't imagine the mess if I took one after eating Pizza or cheeseburgers... A weight-loss pill that actually works, and embarasses at the same time!

Avoid like the plague,

This review is from: Alli Weight-Loss Aid, Orlistat 60mg Capsules, Starter Pack (Health and Beauty)
Let me start by saying a few words about the product and how it is marketed. It is presented to you as not a miracle drug, but a weight loss aid, and that by following a very strict diet and exercise plan, it will help you lose weight faster. I was quite please by the website, and how they provide you with so many free tools and recipes. So the package on a whole, is very good. The books included with the box, and the online tools get 5 starts from me. However, the online tools aren't what you're paying for.To best describe the product, I would like to walk you through my first week of taking these pills. The first day, Monday, went great! I took a pill with each meal, and felt fine. I had no real side effects I could attribute to the drug. The second day went by equally quietly. On Wednesday things started to turn South. I woke up to a delightful surprise, in the form of a pool in my bed where I was sleeping. Nothing big, but all the same, I was grossed out. I proceeded to find an oily orange liquid all over my legs. On a side note, I read the "treatment effects" they attribute to an overly fatty diet. I followed their diet guide religiously for the first week, just so you know. I did some research and found this oily goop to be a normal side effect, something they refer to as a "treatment effect". The info said it was common if you eat to much fat, but how can that be? I followed the meal plan they gave me. Moving on, later that night, when sitting in my computer chair, I felt a rumbling in my stomach, passed some gas, and was horrified at the results. I won't go into detail, but I lost a good pair of pants that day. I was so terrified that I couldn't sleep, for fear of destroying my bed again. Thursday, my stomach was crawling, and I decided to try and power through all this, maybe for the silver lining on the other side, but no, just more orange oily liquid. Come Saturday, I threw away the bottle, and swore it off. But did we mention the side effects of the pills will last up to 72 hours past the last dosage? Yeah, fun weekend. I was glued to my toilet seat with symptoms of food poisoning. Maybe some of you are so desperate to cut 25% of your fat intake, that you will live in fear of the orange liquid, but I am not. Its not worth it, just eat 25% less fat! Its healthier and you won't ruin your sheets, or pants.

The Math Behind Alli,
By Sean (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Alli Weight-Loss Aid, Orlistat 60mg Capsules, 90-Count Starter Pack (Health and Beauty)
Alli makes 25% of the fat you consume with your three daily pills indigestible. It also requires that you eat no more than 15 grams of fat at these meals if you want to avoid the "treatment effects". Therefore, Alli eliminates 25% of 45 grams of fat a day (assuming you eat the max), which is 11.25 grams. As there are 9 calories per gram of fat, Alli eliminates 100 calories a day from your diet. In other words, Alli will knock a pound off you every 5 weeks (there are approximately 3500 calories in a pound of fat). That said, there is more to Alli. Its highly publicized "treatment effects" are in fact its greatest asset. If you're looking for a surefire way to curb your fat intake, look no further. Fear of soiling your pants is a powerful motivator!

I regret buying Alli!,
This review is from: Alli Weight-Loss Aid, Orlistat 60mg Capsules, 60-Count Starter Pack (Health and Beauty)
I bought Alli and was following the instructions on the package for a month. I had frequent embarassing gas discharges, diarrheas, couple "leakages" (one at important business meeting, the other one while stuck in traffic)and stomach cramps. After all this, I barely lost a pound! I really, really regret making this purchase!

A review to help those deciding to buy this product,

It took me about a year of indecision and research before I decided to buy the Alli pills- my main worries included taking a drug to help with weight loss, fear of it not being effective, OR fear of it being effective but I had to live through the awful "treatment effects" (aka greasy anal seepage- just typing that sent shivers down my spine). To those interested in buying Alli, let me share with you my experience with it thus far. It's been 10 days since I have started taking it, 3 times a day with every meal, everyday. The only thing I changed was my diet; I did not start an exercise regiment or alter my daily schedule in any way. The main thing I did was really control my calorie intake by cutting out fatty foods and buying more fat free/ reduced fat versions of the products I eat more of (peanut butter, yogurt, milk, coffee creamer, salad dressing- you get the idea). With Alli, I lost about 4 lbs combined with eating healthy (not just cutting calories but eating more fruit and veggies and drinking more water and tea). I think without the pills, I would maybe lose a pound or so. As far as the side effects, my stool was always loose (accompanied by the undigested fat; bye bye fat) and I passed gas more frequently (which smelled aaawful) but there was never greasy stains on my underwear and I never woke up in a pool of smelly yellow filth (read that review somewhere on here and it scared me away from this product for another 5 months). HOWEVER. The other day my friends invited me to a Chinese buffet and I thought to myself "I've been doing so well and I don't have to worry about any side effects, let me go ahead and treat myself today." I went to town and ate fried chicken, cheese wontons, greasy stir fry, and everything you love about pseudo-chinese food. I spent the rest of the day enjoying myself and went to sleep a happy girl. I paid for what I ate big time the next day. My first poop of the day was super greasy. Ok fine. Was gassy all day, and passing gas led to...grease stains. I had to go to the toilet everytime I felt gassy just to be safe and when I passed it, soo much fat dripped out into the toilet. I wiped and the toilet paper was just soaked in fat. It was extremely traumatizing. I learned some things from that experience though- if you're experiencing awful "treatment effects," you probably should make some changes to your diet, because you're eating food high in fat content. Also, if it happens, though it may be totally gross, you can be comforted by the fact that at least all the fat is in the toilet and not being absorbed by your body. And last, fear of those effects is an amazing incentive to eat well and avoid bad foods when you have those cravings. Not eating a bag of cheetos > dirty underwear. Overall, I am super happy with it so far. It's FDA approved, it doesn't do anything to my body (like make me feel weird/jittery, mess with my metabolism or appetite, etc.), and it really works for me so far. I think I will go a long way if I couple Alli and my healthy diet with exercise. Just a final note to everyone: this is not a miracle pill. You have to work WITH it. Make changes in how you eat and how you live your life. You will lose those pounds through your own sheer force of will. Alli is just there to give you a little bonus (in the form of EXTRA weight lost through your hard work). Good luck everyone!

MORE THAN JUST A PILL,
By Lovinya Jean (Timberlake, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Alli Weight-Loss Aid, Orlistat 60mg Capsules, 90-Count Starter Pack (Health and Beauty)
Well... I almost NEVER leave reviews, but this is important! I've been on the "My Alli Plan" for 5 1/2 weeks and have lost 19 1/2 lbs. You DO have to work the program, it is not magic and not an appetite suppressant. I have lost 65-70 lbs. three times in my life, all on low carbs. Problem is; I can't live the rest of my life with limited carbs, so I have gained it back every time. The solution...with a low calorie and low fat diet, you WILL lose weight and really you can have ANYTHING you want! Just count the grams in your daily allowance.O.K. about Alli, MORE THAT JUST A PILL, with a purchase you go online and register your product code in your pack. I registered the 90 pill starter pack and I received 90 days of online support, with EVERYTHING you need (as far as tools and information) to follow the plan. If you were to join an online weight loss plan such as Weight Watchers it would cost $65.00 FOR 3 months. So you get that free with ALLI, which is a $65.00 value in itself (which in a way, pays for the pills, mine were $60.00 + tax.). They have a meal planner, a food log, a recipe lookup, a water log, a weekly weigh-in, a calorie and fat counter, an activity log listing calories burned, an automatic tally of what you consume, a weekly plan, with guidance for the next step, and a message forum to talk with others (the buddy system). Sure there is more, but I can't name them all. All that said, Personally I do NOT space the fat evenly between 3 meals, or limit the fat to the recommended 19 grams per meal, Sometimes I eat 40 grams of the 60 I'm allowed in a day, at 1 meal! I take the pill with the meal, and I have had NO TREATMENT EFFECTS. The only difference in the way I "go" is that I do go every morning after my 1st cup of coffee; it is softer than before, but NEVER runny or uncontrollable; and never an upset stomach or "go cramps". I think honestly, that the online support plan & useful tools it provides, is worth MORE than the price of the pill. So even if you are one who does not like the pill, for whatever reason...you still get a value with the "My Alli Plan" website. Furthermore...it teaches you how to follow a plan and what you can eat, and what to substitute for your cravings, that you CAN live with for life. If you fall off, don't think it's over, get back on! Enjoy, eat healthier, and live long! Jean

This product not only did not work. It caused a bowel problem(constipation) that lasted for three days. It did not matter how much fat I ate I did not get any reaction . It was if I had not taken anything that would affect the amount of fat in my diet.I tried to eat a high fat meal to see if it would cause any kind reaction and nothing happned. It may work for some but I had to discontinue using it. It turned put to be a real waste of money I have almost an entire bottle left
