4.0 out of 5 stars A highly readable book for those trying to lose weight, January 16, 2010
This is a short book of just 32 pages but short is sweet in this case and is packed with very interesting and useful advice. The author herself has successfully gone through a program and more importantly could stay on that and keep her weight from increasing again! So, the book is in that sense very authentic and her sincerity comes through.

She stresses that any weight loss program has to be so designed that you can stick to it for the rest of your life. She stresses on the obvious but often overlooked fact that one cannot go back to their earlier life style after successfully losing weight if one wants to keep it that way!

The style is highly readable and you can read it in one sitting.

Highly recommended for all weight and health conscious people or their friends who want to gift the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book on Losing Weight, February 13, 2012

I have now read through about 20 books on weight loss, and none of them pointed out that losing weight should be "fun".

I will be taking a lot of what this book has talked about and applying to my life. I recommend this book to anyone looking to lose weight and keep it off!

5.0 out of 5 stars Weight Loss is Fun, February 7, 2012

I've read tons of weight loss books, but this is the first one I've read that talks about -- or even mentions -- fun. The author talks at length about the importance of having fun while you're losing weight as well as afterward.

I couldn't agree more. Along those same lines, I realized several years ago that I was telling myself repeatedly that I "hate working out." My mom always said that, so I said it too. But it didn't match reality -- I had danced ballet for eighteen years and loved every minute of it, and no one can tell me ballet isn't exercise. Once I stopped telling myself that I hate exercise I found lots of other activities I enjoyed. And in enjoying them -- in having *fun* -- I find it a lot easier to workout consistently.

I plan to take the advice in this book and look at more ways to add fun to my weight loss efforts. If you need to lose weight too, I recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great personal and practical guide to losing weight, February 6, 2012

I really enjoyed reading this book. It wasn't another weight loss plan of the day type book. Joan gives great examples from her own life showing her struggles and accomplishments. And it is inspiring to see how she has been able to lose weight and keep it off permanently.

If you are looking for a down to earth book that will change your perspective on how to lose weight and actually have fun doing it, then you need to get this great guide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Motivational, February 4, 2012

An entertaining and life-changing story on how Joan overcame her obesity. This book shows how she turned her life-long weight problem completely around; accomplishing this with basically a changed mindset. I find her story and success highly motivational for anyone wanting to lose weight. It is possible and it CAN BE done!

Her "Ah ha!" moment was when she came to the conclusion that diets don't work because they are no fun, she found a way to actually make eating- eating healthy- a fun experience. One that anyone can do and never give up on. Stressing over weight loss she says is also counterproductive. While I don't really agree that losing weight must be hard or that it goes against nature, it does require lifestyle changes. Most enjoyable and motivating was how she turns the lifestyle changes into something fun, and doable!
