If you are considering gastric band surgery, you need only read this book to be as prepared to make a good decision as is humanly possible. Dr. Sewell goes into detail on every aspect of this procedure and also the human personal side of this surgery. I would never recommend anyone have this surgery without reading this book.

This is a great book. I had already done a lot of research online and by going to seminars, and I still learned a lot from this book! The author presents the information in "chronological order" - and covers what you'll need to know about the standard pre-op processes, the surgery itself, the recovery time, and then the rest of your life. And everything in between too! There are even sample diets for what to eat in the weeks after surgery.

Each of the sections is highlighted by personal stories from others who have experienced what he is talking about. They make the book easy to read and you will look forward to seeing what some other "real person" experienced. There are also highlights from psychologists and others who give a good perspective for why the process works how it does.

You will learn a lot from this book and it gives you some good perspective for the whole pre-op process. For the money, this is a great bet! It's easy to read and you won't regret it.

everything you need to know to be successful with your band. I keep it handy when I need a refresher or to get motivated to carry one. I have had my band since December 07 and have lost 75 pounds. I have 35 more to go and this book keeps me on the straight path to my goal. A wonderful compliment to my wonderful tool.

I liked everything about this book I thought it was very informational but not boring. I loved how they incorporated the patients true stories. I would recommend this book to anyone considering surgery or anyone that wants their family & friends to fully comprehend everything about the surgery.

I've only tried a few recipes but so far they seem pretty good, even my kids will eat them.

I ordered this book as I am scheduled for Lapband surgery at the end of the month. I took it with me on vacation and finished the book within a few days.I have already done alot of research and belong to several discussions boards but this book was very imformative, written so that its easy to comprehend and in a very positive manner but always delivers the facts. I like that it talks about dealing with things such as eating out after surgery,and your mindset before and after surgery. I usually do not write reviews but I thought enough about this book to take the time to let you know that if you are thinking about getting banded or are scheduled for surgery this book will be perfect for you to read. I also purchased Weight Loss for dummies and a couple of the cookbooks and plan to read those and write reviews as well!!

This book was used but in wonderful condition. It is very informative and helpful. Well work the money.

This is a must read book for anyone who is thinking about the "Band" surgery. I found it very informative and easy to read. I made a list of questions I wanted to ask my primary care physician when I went for my annual physical, especially ones dealing with my current medications. I also made a list of questions for the team who would be managing my care that I wouldn't have thought of without reading the book.

This book is an excellent resource for anyone considering weight loss surgery (WLS). The author has undergone a WLS procedure and I believe this provided her with the insight to hone in on the questions any prospective WLS patient would like answered. She has included information from a bariatric surgeon, nutritionist, behavioral health nurse and patients who have undergone various types of WLS. I found the bios on the WLS patients particularly interesting. The book is extremely informative and I highly recommend this book to anyone considering the procedure. I also recommend the book to family members of patients, as this provides an excellent view of issues patients go through before and after surgery.

This was a great book on getting familiar with the LB surgery. I read it to get an idea of what the surgery would be like.
