5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars, my wife loved it January 1, 2011
Format:Ring-bound|Amazon Verified Purchase
I got this for my wife as a Christmas gift and she really liked it for a few different reasons. For one, it has the updated program information in it and goes along those lines, so she liked that. It also is set up nice with good strong pages and sort of a spiral book set-up. One review I read called this book more of a folder, which I have to totally disagree. This thing is about 1.5 inches thick and is well made. I have no doubt this can survive a lot of cooking in the kitchen. I am not the one that does most of the cooking so I can't comment totally on some aspects, but it was well received and seems to be the right price. I think I paid around $15 on this site.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST-HAVE for a WW newbie July 14, 2011
By M. Wolk
Format:Ring-bound
I am a little bit obsessed with this book. My fiance keeps laughing at me for constantly having it by my side.

Let me preface by saying that I have a bad habit of cookbook impulse buying. I have a stack of them on my kitchen counter; I'd say the majority of them I've made literally nothing from. The others, I've made maybe two things from. What I end up finding out in these cookbooks is that the recipes are unhealthy, or have ingredients I wouldn't normally have around, or involve a crazy time-consuming technique or gadget that I don't have. And trust me when I say I am an avid cook- I'm just also a budget-conscious one who doesn't have a Food Network kitchen.

Why is this important? Because I took special care to research this book so that it would not become another cookbook statistic in my life. But this book is ... well, it's magical.

I tried WW for the first time earlier this year, and I tried to do it all on my own. I was constantly tracking, measuring, counting ingredients, building recipes, etc. It was exhausting. I got discouraged. And the minute grad school started heating back up, there was just no way I had time for it. If only I had known this book existed...

All the guesswork is gone. There are full breakfasts, lunches, dinners, sides, meat, vegetarian, desserts, slow-cooker recipes, breads. You name it- and they're all Points Plus calculated, so as long as you follow the directions (which are simple), you don't have to sit there and count and calculate.

I am a foodie. My fiance is an aspiring foodie. Our favorite thing about this cookbook is that we would happily eat these recipes whether we were on WW or not. They are fantastic! The other night we had the chicken fajitas, and for only six points, we were STUFFED.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Weight Watchers Program Cookbook gets an A+!!!! January 4, 2011
Format:Ring-bound
A review from my wife: A must for individuals on the Weight Watcher's program. The first chapter is called New Basics and has everything from kitchen tools and techniques to salsas and sauces. The next fifteen sections overflow with the foods and flavors we love to eat, but they have been made healthier to assist in weight loss. You don't have to eat boring rabbit food or buy pills or powders to be successful with weight loss. Weight Watchers is not a diet, it is a lifestyle change for you and your family. Its not a temporary journey, its making changes over time for a lifetime. This cookbook with help on the journey.

I've been on the program over 3 months and relearning what a portion size really looks like, how to know if I'm really hungry, etc., and of course about nutrition. This book will not give you the program, you'll have to join for that, but I highly recommend Weight Watchers as a way to make the choice to make the change in your life for a healther you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Newest PointsPlus Recipes December 17, 2010
By Teresa
Format:Ring-bound|Amazon Verified Purchase
First of all, I would not call it a "folder". I would call it a hardcover 5-ring binder. It comes with indexed tabs, already inserted in the correct places.

I have been cooking for years, but I am enjoying reading through the kitchen basics chapter. It gives great suggestions on what equipment you actually need to have. Also some really good sounding salad dressings, as I want to get rid of bottled dressings and the junk in them.

Overall, I will be working my way through this one. Lots of pictures and good sounding healthier foods.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice New Cookbook! February 3, 2011
Format:Ring-bound|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have been following weight watchers for a while now but have hesitated on buying one of the cookbooks until now. So far I am glad I decided to pick this one up. I have made several of the recipes for my family and they have turned out great! They didn't even know they were eating "diet food." There are enough recipes (500) that you are bound to find something you like even if you are a picky eater. They are also easy to follow and don't take forever to prepare. The book is put together in a three ring binder and the pages are like magazine pages which aren't the sturdiest but they are of good quality. It is nicely organized and is overall a good book to add to any collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great deal on this book! December 17, 2010
Format:Ring-bound|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is actually a folder with loose leaf pages in it, rather than a book. But I was still really impressed at the size of the folder and the number of recipes included. All of the recipes have the new Points Plus values for them. Categories include Breakfast & Brunches, Starters & Light Meals, Salads, Soups, Beef Pork & Lamb, Poultry, Fish & Shellfish, vegetarian main dish, vegetable sides, grain & bean sides, slow-cooker classics, pizza calzones & sandwiches, yeast breads quick breads & muffins, cakes pies & more, fruit & frozen desserts puddings & sauces. It is 424 pages long & each page has 1-2 recipes on it!

The best thing was that it comes with a card for a FREE year subscription to weight watchers magazine or if you mail in the card by Dec 31st 2010 you can get a refund for $9.99! Makes this a really cheap addition to your recipe library!

Recommend as a gift too, great for anyone watching their weight or who just enjoys cooking!

Are Serving Sizes Given for Each Recipe ?
This is an old discussion but the confusion is still relevant because Amazon appears to be lumping together multiple reviews from multiple editions/bindings/ISBNs for this cookbook. The reviews aren't all that helpful when they're consolidated this way because the opinions may appear... Read more

does it teach?
No, from what I remember, it doesn't. Part of WW's business model is that you have to go to the meetings or sign up for the online program to learn how to use their system. They'd lose money if all you had to do was buy a cookbook and do it on your own. However, joining online and using the... Read more
