5.0 out of 5 stars Finally! Thrill the scale AND the tastebuds!
A great cheer of congratulations for this wonderful book. The people at Weight Watchers have published several cook-books before, filled with recipes that stayed within their dieting guidelines, but they must have heard one too many comments of "Yes, it's healthy, but...it tastes a little like cardboard." 2.0 out of 5 stars I expected a lot more...
I got this cookbook not because I'm in Weight Watchers, but I enjoy healthy eating. Some of the recipes sound interesting enough, but aren't "everyday" fare. There are a lot of recipes that require one to live in a good-sized city to have access to the ingredients (oysters, lobster, arborio rice, wild mushrooms, different cheeses, semolina flour, creme...

A great cheer of congratulations for this wonderful book. The people at Weight Watchers have published several cook-books before, filled with recipes that stayed within their dieting guidelines, but they must have heard one too many comments of "Yes, it's healthy, but...it tastes a little like cardboard." So they've gone to the experts: The Culinary Institute of America. This wonderful collaboration has resulted in the best of both worlds: Healthy food (which even fits into their newest "1-2-3" program) that tastes FABULOUS. Because if we're at Weight Watchers to begin with, we must love food, right? Now there's great-tasting food that won't go straight to your hips and that's the sort of cook-book I like.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent support, January 23, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Weight Watchers Great Cooking Every Day (Hardcover)
As a new member of Weight Watchers, I was looking for something to use that would support my weight loss efforts. This book is an excellent choice. Each recipe is presented in a very easy-to-understand format. In addition, each recipe offers calorie info, fat, sodium, carbohydrate, protein and calcium info per serving. The Point amounts are clearly stated for each recipe which makes it so easy to keep track of on the plan. The recipes are fresh and new; things like Spicy Asian Grilled Shrimp and Broccoli with Orange Sesame Sauce are delicious. This is very nice addition to my cookbook collection and a great tool to have around while I learn to change my eating habits.

I started Weight Watchers a few weeks ago, and had a really hard time finding a way to make creative food and figure out how many points it was. This book made all of the difference. I have made about 25% of the recipes already and I LOVE IT. Everything tastes great. It is not complicated to make, and I am still able to prepare gourmet food for my family. Highly recommend for anyone, dieting or not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Gourmet Weight Watchers, May 25, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Weight Watchers Great Cooking Every Day (Hardcover)
If you expected the usual from-a-can processed fare from the Culinary Institute of America, well, you must be kidding yourself! This is great, easy to make fare that is more than good - it's great! I haven't found a single dud in this entire cookbook. What's better is that I actually find myself using the whole cookbook (as opposed to preparing recipes from only a single section). I really recommend this book to anyone who wants to eat really great food on a tight calorie budget!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you love good food..., March 19, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Weight Watchers Great Cooking Every Day (Hardcover)
If you love good food you will love this cookbook. But it's not the source for run of the mill recipes. It's for people who love to taste and enjoy special flavors and who'll take the time to get a few uniques ingredients that make dining a pleasure. I so love this book that I have given it as presents to frineds I know will enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally!, March 4, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Weight Watchers Great Cooking Every Day (Hardcover)
Finally a cookbook that's health conscious with gourmet results! I recently discovered this new book and have been thrilled with the recipes. I have tried several recipes and would even use these to entertain they are so delicious. I was also impressed with the ease of preparation. My husband has devoured every bite and is clueless that it's Weight Watchers! I highly recommend this book.

I got this cookbook not because I'm in Weight Watchers, but I enjoy healthy eating. Some of the recipes sound interesting enough, but aren't "everyday" fare. There are a lot of recipes that require one to live in a good-sized city to have access to the ingredients (oysters, lobster, arborio rice, wild mushrooms, different cheeses, semolina flour, creme fraiche, demi-glace sauce.) None of the recipes really seem kid-friendly, or low-fat versions of tried-and-true favorites. The dessert section doesn't have anything in it that hasn't already been covered by one of the other WW cookbooks. I greatly prefer Simply the Best and The Best of WW Magazine Cookbook to this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspired Heathly Cooking for Foodies, June 21, 2005
This review is from: Weight Watchers Great Cooking Every Day (Hardcover)
I have hundreds of cookbooks, but I find this to be my favorite. Healthy cookbooks, in my opinion, either produce bland tasteless copies of staple recipes or strange tofu based foods. I've made at least half of the recipes and they have all become family favorites in my household.
This cookbook reflects the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) mission of creating gourmet food, but with a healthy twist.
If you don't want to try new ingredients or multi-step recipes than this cookbook isn't for you.
However, if you are like me, a foodie that wants to eat healthier, than this will quickly become your favorite.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally - WW for those who love to cook, October 8, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Weight Watchers Great Cooking Every Day (Hardcover)
I knew that teaming up with the CIA must be a good sign, and it is. The Bolivian Beef Stew is the best beef stew I've ever made. Baked Figs are scrumptious. Delicious muffins. I'm working my way through the book, and have made about 30 recipes. Not all are worth making again, but the winners more than make up for them.

I agree the recipes take a little more time but it's so worth it. If you are following the WW program but would like more adventurous cooking or more elegant entertaining this is it.
