Some pretty terrible recipes . . .
on December 9, 2006
I am surprised by all the wonderful reviews this book has received. To be fair, I have only made three recipes from it so far, but they were all terrible--nothing my husband or I would ever eat again. And we are not picky eaters! One dish was so bad we didn't even finish it, but threw the rest away and ordered in. The others were edible, but boring and bland. The thing is, I normally love Weight Watchers cookbooks (I have quite a few), and this is the only of their books that I don't like. Flipping through the pages, there are not even that many recipes that seem appetizing--and I love all kinds of cuisine, all kinds of foods. Reading other people's reviews makes me wonder: did I just have the misfortune of choosing the three worst recipes in the book? At any rate, if you are considering buying this book, just be aware that there are at least a few really bad recipes in here mixed in among the supposedly good ones. Also, you should know that the recipes here are generally higher in calories than those of other WW books (many of the entrees go well above 400 calories per serving, with six or eight servings). 2 stars because I give it the benefit of the doubt--there must be SOME good recipes in here, but for me, it's too risky and potentially wasteful to find out which ones they are.
