Extraordinary!,
This review is from: Weight of the World (Audio CD)
I like Metal Church a lot. Thru the years they have put out great music, but honestly nothing like this. this Cd goes shoulder to shoulder with the best albums from Savatage, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and many other pure heavy metal bands. This is one ofe the great heavy metal albums of all times. Got to listen to this one, if you like honest heavy metal you'll love this one. fantastic. Great singing, better riffs and solos, good keyboards in the background. the best!

Metal Church at their best,

First off I can't see how anybody can give this a bad review. Second I know that people have their own taste as far as singers are concerned so I can understand in one way.But in my opinion I think Ronnie munroe is better than David Wayne by far. But I would have to say I like Ronnie Monroe as well as Mike Howe.
The music on this album reminds me of the Mike Howe days and a little bit of the Masterpiece album.I think it is good fresh start for the band the new guys really compliments the music. I also think this album's song writings are better than the previous album Masterpiece. To me there seems to be more heart and energy in this album. With that being said I look forward to the future with the band and their new lineup.

Having just picked this up I was wondering what I'd get. With so many personnel changes over the years it's always a crapshoot with Metal Church. Never fear gentle listener for this album rocks. The guitar of Vanderhoof is incredible and has been the consistenly great factor of all Metal Church releases. If you like no frills metal played like it matters this is one to hunt down. A better album vocally than Masterpeace it was a pleasant surprise. Go to church Y'all.

FROM A METAL CHURCH FAN-AWESOME COMEBACK,

EXCELLENT COMBACK AFTER YEARS OF DELAY. IT SHOWS THEY STILL HAVE IT. TOO BAD THE GROUP DISBANDED BUT I CAN SEE THEM COMING BACK WITH A MUCH BETTER ALBUM. IT SHOULD NOT BE FORGOTTEN, THAT THIS BAND CAME UP WITH SOME OF THE BEST METAL ALBUMS OF ALL TIME. THEIR MUSIC INSPIRED A LOT OF NEW HEAVY METAL SINGERS THESE DAYS. METAL CHURCH WAS THERE WHEN METALLICA WAS OUT AND THEY HAD GREAT SUCESS AT THE BEGINNING BUT IT WAS SHORT LIVED DUE TO THE FACT OF THE PROBLEMS THEY HAD WITH THE RELEASE OF THEIR ALBUMS. I COULD ALSO SAY THAT IF METAL CHURCH'S ALBUMS WOULD VE COME OUT BEFORE METALLICA'S ALBUMS, THEY WOULD VE MOST LIKELY BE MORE RECOGNIZED THESE DAYS AS THE PIONEERS OF METAL. FURTHERMORE, IF MIKE HOWE WOULD HAVE STAYED IN THE BAND, THEIR CAREER WOULD VE BEEN DIFFERENT DUE TO THE EXCELLENT VOICE THAT MAN BROUGHT TO THE BAND. COMPARING WITH OTHER METAL BANDS (I.E. METALLICA) MIKE HOWE HAS WAY BETTER VOICE THEN JAMES HETFIELD. MIKE HOWE COULD SING WHILE JAMES HETFIELD I THINK NEEDS TO GET VOICE REHAB JUST LIKE HE DID WITH HIS PROBLEMS. JAMES WAS AWFUL IN CONCERT, HE CANNOT SING, ITS THE AMPLIFIER THAT DOES THE WORK FOR HIM. BUT MAKING A LONG STORY SHORT, THIS ALBUM IS GREAT AND SHOULD BE IN YOUR METAL CHURCH COLLECTION EVEN THOUGH SOME OF THE PREVIOUS REVIWERS DO NOT AGREE. BUT AS AN ADVICE LISTEN TO THEM ON YOUTUBE, IT SHOULD GIVE YOU A BETTER IDEA OF THEIR MUSIC. YOU NEED TO HAVE THIS ALBUM IF YOU ARE A METAL CHURCH FAN. I HAVE ALL OF THEIR ALBUMS AND I STILL LISTEN TO THEM AFTER 20 PLUS YEARS. METAL CHURCH FOREVER!!!!!!

GIVE IT A TRY,

This new Metal Church album came with great anticipation. I think the critics of this new material are being a bit too harsh. Let's face it, the glory days of most metal bands of yesteryear are gone. To expect a repeat of their debut, "Hanging", or "Blessing" is just asking for way too much. I think that this new incarnation of Metal Church have put forth a worthy product. Certainly it's not going to be their best. With a great band like Metal Church, who have set the bar so high, there is going to be some disappointment with many loyal & longtime fans. The fact of the matter is that Kurdt still knows how to create interesting tunes with crunchy riffs. What more do you want? Repeatedly listening will bring forth the realization of one thing-that they are still a significant metal outfit. Loyal fans: don't turn your back on this release. Give it a try.

A very good release,

This Metal Church lineup has very little resemblance to the original lineup but is still a very good album with lots of cool riffs. The singing takes a little getting used too, afterall its not David Wayne and to most people he is the voice of Metal Church. Lots of political statements and some all around good thrash make this CD worth buying if you are a Metal Church fan or just want to hear some good thrash thats not overly fast or brutal.

this isn't metal church!
this is metal church fronted by some crappy emo kid! i listened to this cd three or four times and yes it does grow on you alittle but this is by far the worst metal church cd thus far this ronnie guy SUCKS! he doesn't come close to being as good as mike howe and he damn sure doesn't compare to david wayne the music is typical metal church but the vocals scream "hey look at me i'm an amature" if your just getting into the church, check out anything with david wayne or mike howe in the vocal department. for those of us already into the church, welcome to hell and disappointment!

This album is garbage, total trash! I really looked forward to this one. I have been listening to MC since their debut came out and can't believe that they would stoop this low. The song writing is WEAK, the music is WEAK, the production is WEAK. It sounds like they were tired while recording, there is no spirit here. Was this album contractually owed to the label? This new singer is horrible. He is such pathetic throwback to the '80's it's laughable. That '80's scream for no good reason except to show off your range is ancient history. The last MC album, "Masterpeace", was so much better. But this sounds like a bad MC cover band trying to make "original" songs using "Masterpeace" as a template. I am totally disappointed and disgusted. It is almost as bad as Vanderhoof's second album, hardcore MC fans will know what I mean.

IT'S ABOUT TIME! SOME MELODY WITH MY METAL!!!,
By
This review is from: Weight of the World (Audio CD)
I'VE BEEN A HUGE M.C. FAN FOR NEARLY 20 YEARS! I JUST GOT THE NEW CD THIS PAST WEEKEND! IT WAS A REFRESHING SUPRISE! I THINK THE STYLE OF THE WHOLE PIECE IS LIKE A SAVATAGE OR QUEENSRYCHE. KEEP IN MIND, M.C. HAS NEVER DONE A PIECE LIKE THIS, SO IT'S ALMOST LIKE A ROOKIE EFFORT FOR THEM AND THEY PULLED IT OFF. RONNIE BRINGS A MELODIC VOICE TO THE HEAVY GUITARS AND DRUMS. WELL WORTH CHECKING OUT AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR MORE FROM THIS LINE-UP IN THE NEXT COUPLE YEARS. IT'S A GREAT DIRECTION THE BAND HAS TAKEN AND THEY'LL ONLY GET BETTER IN THE WAY THEY WRITE AND PRESENT THE MUSIC. AS FAR AS THE PRODUCTION QUALITY, THE DAYS OF MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR RECORD DEALS AND UNLIMITED STUDIO TIME WITH THE BEST ENGENEERS AND PRODUCERS ARE GONE, KURDT DID A BANG UP JOB ON HIS OWN!!! I GAVE ONLY 4 STARS, SO THE BOYS HAVE SOMETHING TO SHOOT FOR NEXT TIME AROUND! I WAS COMPLETELY HAPPY WITH THE CD AND SO WERE MY NEIGHBORS, BECAUSE I PLAYED IT LOUD!!!!!!
