I now have two hoops that I love. The first one is the 8 piece "Pocket" hoop by Troo Hoops which unfortunately isn't sold on-line by Amazon. While it can be purchased directly from the Troo Hoops website, I went to the NYC store for a custom made hoop and to survey the quality first hand. It is beautiful, study and should hold up to long term abuse. Unfortunately, it was twice the price of my 2nd favorite hoop: the Sport Hoop "Trim Hoop" 4B. While the Pocket Hoop is only 1.6lbs, the Trim Hoop is 3.9lbs (a little less than the advertised 4 lbs) and I really like the heavier weight. The extra heft makes it easier to keep it up and spinning. I also like the foam cushioning. With regard to the "bruising" complaints of other users, this hoop doesn't have the waves/ridges of some of the other Sport Hoop brand offerings. In addition, the box recommends that novice hoopers restrict their hoop practice to no more than two intervals of 10 minutes per day for the first two weeks which should enable their bodies to become accustomed to the impact of the weight. I would definitely recommend this as a great starter hoop for new hoopers focused on fitness rather than dance/tricks.

This product is great, and once I got it together (to remain connected so that I could use it)my stamina to keep the hula hoop moving was starting to be fun. I thought I had found a great way to exercise despite my degenerative hip bone which prevents me from running or jogging and sometimes even walking. The next day my lower back and hip were in great pain for three days. The product is great but I guess even this can cause greater distress to your body.

Lesson learned, talk extensively to your doctor before ordering. Though I briefly discussed it no mention of this probability was given so I thought it would be okay. Afterwards I got..."What were you thinking?" OK... Talk extensively. Great product though.

Cons would be that I had difficulty getting the parts to stay together to use and now that I have them together I couldn't get them apart to try to return or sell. If you are in good health I would highly recommend this product. Hope this is helpful to someone.

I bought this hoop after graduating up from a 1 pound hoop. In a little over a month of using it, I have definitely lost some inches on my waist and best of all, I am getting the beginnings of ab muscle definition. I have never felt so fit in my entire life. I love, love, love this hoop. I am so glad I found fitness hula hooping. It has changed my life.

Seriously, some of the negative complaints I've ran across almost discouraged me from purchasing this weighted hoop but notwithstanding, I went ahead and checked it out anyway. And I. AM. SO. HAPPY. I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE.

As a 19-year-old girl who stands at 5'2, weighing 92 lbs. I am in love with this piece of exercising equipment. I am absolutely astonished at how much "online" people seem struggle with this.

1) It does not fall apart if you take a second and use your brain to put it together. Seriously, this was designed perfectly. All 8 pieces fall right into place after you hear a click! It's not brain surgery, guys.

2) It does not bruise me at all. Nor does it hurt. Perhaps everyone's body is different. I'm not a frequent workout addict, but I exercise whenever I get the chance. So if you're an active person, this will be a piece of cake.

3) TONED ABS -- yes, the results are shown almost right away. WOW! Slimmer waist for the ladies, and rock hard midsection for the fellas.

4) Hard to keep it up?? Are you kidding me? This is by far the easiest exercise routine I've ever done. The structure & size of this hoop allow much easier maneuverability. How clumsy do you have to be to mess it up? You don't even have to swing with full force. Just a slight push and there goes the hoop.. Round and round and thump! thump! On YA STOMACH!

Fitness and physique don't get better than this.

If this worked properly, it would be a 5 star product. Unfortunately, it does NOT work. First time, I snapped it together and gave it a try. It flew apart. Second time, I made sure EVERY piece was locked in place. Still flew apart before making two revolutions. Third time, I snapped it, locked it, and then tested it by trying to pull the pieces apart with my hands--I was not able to. Good to go, right? Not so much... It still flew apart, and that's what happened every time I tried to use it. I do know how to use a hoop. I was good at it as a kid, and was looking forward to using one again for fun, AND for the fitness benefits. So two stars. And I'm considering knocking it down to one because I'm so disappointed! I wish I had been able to have the five star experience that most of the rest of you had. I'm processing my return now. Thanks to Amazon's stellar customer service, at least I know that will go well!

I bought this hoop not knowing what weight I should buy. I do think the 4 lb hoop is a little heavy for me, but I got used to the weight quickly. When I first bought the hoop, I had a difficult time making the pieces stay together. My husband had to give them the "oomph" they needed to not come apart. After he fixed it for me, I've had no problems. This is a fun hoop, and great exercise.

After watching a friend do this daily for 15 minutes and standing by it as her reason for a smaller waist and tighter stomach muscles...I convinced myself I could Hula, even if I was terrible at it as a child. It's not so hard. After a few drops, and a few laughs, I got the hang of it, and I do it daily for 10 minutes. (worked up to that time as directed). It's easy! AND most of all, it's working!

This product came in great shape and was easy to assemble. I love the way it can easily be disassembled if I want to take it traveling. I purchase the weighted hoop based on manufacturers recommendation based on my weight and it was correct for me. I have used the hula hoop for a month now a minimum of 5 days a week and 20 - 30 minutes at a time. I never had any problems with putting it together or keeping it together like others have said. It says to start out at only a few minutes a day, but I started the first day with 20 minutes and had no bruising and was not sore. Prior to this hula hoop I used a $1 dollar hula hoop regularly and cannot see that this hula hoop is much different in working my abs. I measured my waist and hips prior to using and remeasured 4 weeks later and there is no change. For someone who is in shape do not expect a huge change in your midsection. It is fun to do and I will continue to use it and hopefully will get results in the future.

I love this hula hoop! It makes ab work fun! I have no experienced any of the bruising that others have reported.
