5.0 out of 5 stars Great stuff
Coming out of an already diverse music collection I haven't been able to stop playing this disc. I've been listening to it everyday since I got it and continue to love it even more. All in all it's happy music. I don't think there is a single bad song on this disc. I have yet to hear any of their other stuff but I can't wait to hear some more of it because it's just...

5.0 out of 5 stars Music from Vermont. Music that will make you sing., October 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Weightless in Water (Audio CD)
Driving north on route 100 outside Stowe, Vermont I turn off onto the familiar back roads that will take me to the base of Hunger mountain. The mountain top view is worth the 2 or so mile hike, a wandering path up rocky stairs and over stoney brooks, surrounded by tall birches and all the esthetics of Vermont. At the top you look down into the valley of fields and dirt roads, farms and smoke bilowing chimneys. At the top you breath in and feel the overwhelming sense that there is no better place on this earth, at least no better place than Vermont. Back at the bottom I climb back into my car and turn the music of Strangefolk back up to full volume. They are not "Phish and the Dead" they are the music that gives me that ever present esthetic high of standing on top of mount Hunger smiling away my time. They tend to do that to me, make me smile, make me sing.

5.0 out of 5 stars An exhilerating musical experience, December 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Weightless in Water (Audio CD)
Far from their critics reviews, Strangefolk exceeds the Dead and Phish in musical versatility and structured yet, mind-altering jams. Although Strangefolk successfully captures the energizing expderience of their shows on this cd, their radio friendly sound holds a much brighter future than other "jam bands." Strangefolk's music appeals to all ages and a variety of people. My mom can listen and sing along with Westerly, the boot slappin' crowd can dance to Otis, and children/teens can relate to Genauer's lyrics in Roads. Put simply, this band is going places, so catch them on cd, or the next time they tour nationally.

5.0 out of 5 stars Music the way it should be, October 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Weightless in Water (Audio CD)
Strangefolk is the only deadish experiance to come along that I would endorse, as a 25 year deadhead and vetern of 200-plus shows (in 3 countries) these boys from Vermont deserve the torch that has been thoughtlessly handed to those other boys from Vermont. Strange folk is a hidden treasure and once tapped should yield years of outstanding performances.

As writers of music ;everyone of their songs are moving.I never heard a bad song from them.Their music will make you dance (don't dance "maby"but you will find your self moving)If you have chance to see STRANGEFOLK do so you will have no regreats. If you read this review buy all their CD'S. You will not regreat it.Enjoy People.

This is a disc I picked up because I always heard the name, (they're local boys). They've been around for years now and even have their own festival every year. I don't mean to generalize, but this disc is jam-tastic. It quite hard not to move your feet or at least bob your head to this stuff. Great musicians, and catchy tunes. I haven't heard every album of theirs, but I suspect this is the best one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great music!, April 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Weightless in Water (Audio CD)
Ever since my brother got me hooked on this band, i can't get enough of them! He gave me this CD for Chrismas and I just keep playing it! Furnace is my favorite, while Valhalla pulls a close second. I agree with other fans--I don't know why they aren't more popular. They put on a great live show--I've seen them everytime they've come to the Boston area this year! If you haven't seen them live, at least buy the CD--you won't regret it!
