5.0 out of 5 stars Best you can get
A friend told me about this several years ago, and said I had to try it. I was very skeptical, as I was taking a multi vitamin from a name brand company. I lost a bet with him, and the price I had to pay was to try Weil Nutritionals out. I did, and since then have felt better than I did before taking it. While I don't think this multivitamin is bad overall, I do have some concerens.

First, the vitamin is extremely hard to swallow. I nearly choked a couple of times trying to get it down. Another reader claims that shouldn't be a criticism. Well, I disagree.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best you can get, June 28, 2007
This review is from: Weil Daily Multivitamin for Optimum Health, Tablets,180 tablets (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
A friend told me about this several years ago, and said I had to try it. I was very skeptical, as I was taking a multi vitamin from a name brand company. I lost a bet with him, and the price I had to pay was to try Weil Nutritionals out. I did, and since then have felt better than I did before taking it. With the off the shelf drug store stuff, that I had been taking, I was always felling run down, and getting sick. My wife started taking Weil Nutritionals too, and has quit taking the women's nutritional products from other companies. I do not know what Dr. Weil does that they do not, but truly does seem to be a better product. The Amazon price is WAY better than my local health foods store too.

While I don't think this multivitamin is bad overall, I do have some concerens.

First, the vitamin is extremely hard to swallow. I nearly choked a couple of times trying to get it down. Another reader claims that shouldn't be a criticism. Well, I disagree.

Second, [...], an independent company that tests nutrional supplements found problems with the ingredients, namely that the vitamins contain only 73% of the vitamin A that is on the label, and, due to a binding agent used, there is actually 251% of its claimed 60 mg of calcium. Whether these problems have been corrected, I do not know.

Nonetheless, I think these vitamins are decent overall, although I have ethical issues with how Dr. Weil shamelessly promotes his own products on his Web site, especially with his "vitamin advisor," which recommends the same amount of stuff to take regardless of your input.

Update: Based on the recent tests by Consumerlab.com, it appears that the issues I mentioned above have been resolved.

These pills are pretty big but they're really great! I just cut them in half and take one 1/2 in the morning with breakfast and the other 1/2 in the evening with dinner.

I highly recommend these vitamins and will definitely buy these again!

3.0 out of 5 stars Love the Product, the Price, but the Shipping Cost ... ???, December 7, 2008

UPDATE: check for different sellers here on Amazon. I was able to find a seller (think it was Amazon) that didn't charge for shipping. While the vitamins were slightly higher, the overall price was lower.

#####

I've been using Dr Weil's multivitamin for some time. I've bought them here through Amazon and locally at the health stores. I trust the brand and Dr Weil's efforts to promote personal health. See the other reviews for the technical details.

My concern is that I now have to pay for shipping. What happened? I just placed an order for other Weil vitamins and shipping was free. My last order of this multivitamin also had free shipping. (Thank you, Amazon, for keeping this history).

Now, why is shipping nearly $7 for this bottle? Yes, I agree with other reviewers the pills are hard to swallow. But this shipping cost is even harder to swallow especially since other Weil products have free shipping.

I may yet purchase because locally these same vitamins are twice as much. 180 count is nearly $50 locally.

The value of any product is not just the product itself but also the cost to obtain it.

I respect Dr. Weil and trust this product with his name on it. It is a great multi-vitamin and doesn't create the nausea that I've experienced with some vitamins...even if I don't take it with food. While I'm not certain, I suspect these may be made with vegetable concentrates because sometimes a while after taking one I have a small burp that tastes like I just ate a nice, big salad. This is not a problem, and when it happens it is just a VERY small reminder that I've done something good for myself.

3.0 out of 5 stars GULP !, January 22, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Weil Daily Multivitamin for Optimum Health, Tablets,180 tablets (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
I purchased these vitamin pills because they were the best value to be had here on Amazon. While there is no guarantee as to what they actually contain, the information on the outside of the bottle claims that they are jam-packed with vitams & minerals.
They only problem is getting them down. You see, thay are BIG. And I actually took the time to measure them.
Size: 7/8 x 3/8 Seven eights of an inch is just about an inch! At first I was having problems because I was drinking water with the pill in my mouth and waiting too-long to gulp it down. That is not a good thing to do because the longer you keep in in your mouth the more the coating dissolves and then the pill becomes bone-dry.
But I have resolved to finish all 180 tablets. The best thing to do is... Wait until your thirsty, pop it in your mouth, then drink water and gulp it down fast withhout concentrating too much on the pill.
And, if you can, try to align the tablet with your tongue so that it points straight down and not sideways.
Good luck !

1.0 out of 5 stars Too big, July 30, 2011

If you can swallow big pills, then these will likely be fine for you. But if you gag just a little, stay away; this is a horse pill. It also strikes me as an example of in-the-box thinking. If you need everything in these pills, why squish them into one? I would be happy to purchase a multi-vitamin that required two pills, instead of these giant, throat scratchers. Cutting this pill in half leaves a jagged edge on one side, which is hardly better. I've cut them into quarters and will use them until they run out. But no re-order from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars These vitamins are GREAT! - I dont know what anyone else on here is talking about...., February 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Weil Daily Multivitamin for Optimum Health, Tablets,180 tablets (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
So I got these vitamins in the mail expecting HUGE, HUGE pills from the reviews that I saw on here. NOT true. I have taken vitapaks for a LONG time and if you think these are big, you haven't ever taken vitamins before. These are easy to swallow.

Also, someone commented on here about their urine turning yellow... seriously... who is LOOKING at your urine that you care? All vitamins do that to you... it's excess vitamins that end up in your urine. Not a big deal. Happens with every vitamin you ever take.

And the smell? Of COURSE they smell like vitamins.. THEY ARE VITAMINS! Try taking some fish oil some time and then talk about the smell.

These are great, they make me feel great and this is an awesome deal on Dr. Weil's vitamins! I would recommend to everyone and anyone - And I have been doing so...

4.0 out of 5 stars Best we have found..., November 1, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Weil Daily Multivitamin for Optimum Health, Tablets,180 tablets (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
After many years of looking for a good, practical multiple vitamin, we have hit on one with Dr. Weil's brand and have been taking for three years. Nothing harsh like others that go thru the body within hours; these are lasting and both of us have noticed a difference in how we feel, the energy level we have, etc. We have started the practice of cutting in two and taking one half in the morning, the other with dinner and found this to work the best for us. Reasonably priced and we feel like we know what we are putting into our bodies with Dr. Weil's products.
