I think this is probably the best negative ion generator available. the manufacturer testing says there is negligible ozone production (purports to be almost not detectable & well within safety standards) so it is not harmful. It really cleans th air well in the the room I have it. Previously visible airborne particles that could be seen when direct sunlight streamed into the room have now disappeared. My asthmatic friend who sleeps over, says her breathing is much easier. And feel more refreshed. The stale air odor that used to be there after the house was closed off, has now gone. If you are in the market for a negative ion generator, this is the one to get !!!!

Recommended. I was reluctant to purchase this ionizer due to the price. But after much Internet research, I concluded that most of the less expensive ionizers do put out a sufficient amount of ions and those that do often generate too much ozone. I have two less expensive ionizers that sit in a closet unused because they put out so much ozone that they irritate my eyes and make me cough. The deciding factor for me in purchasing this ionizer was that a modified version of it was used in clinical research at Columbia. I have been satisfied with this ionizer and am considering purchasing another.

As you can see from the product picture, this ionizer does not win style points. It has all the bulk and lack of grace of a "build-it-yourself" electronics kit. But it is unobtrusive and its functionality makes up for its lack of style.

I wish that Wein would create a smaller model that would be easier to pack while traveling. (Hint! hint! If you are reading this Wein!)

This Wein unit emits pulsed discharges from a wire brush; a unique method of generating negative ions. The emitter is not replaceable, but Wein claims does not wear over time. This is a very powerful industrial strength generator, which does make a slight hissing sound. My ion detector registers a high level of negative ions even some distance away from the emitter. The coverage area is 800 sq ft, so I recommend this unit for work if you are in an open area, or heavily polluted areas, such as your garage. Since it is so powerful, there is potential for increased blackwall effect.

I believe this is one of the more powerful Ionizers available on the market today.

This is probably the best ionizer that money can buy that has relatively low ozone production. The negative ion production is very high and so it cleans and deodorizes the air efficiently and effectively. The negative ion production is so high that often charges metal structures causing audible discharges as the VI-2500 charges and the structure discharges. Strategic placement is important. You don't want to sit a few feet from this unit. First, the ozone gases may blow on your face. Excessive negative ion exposure may give headaches, extreme sleepiness, muscle pains, and light headed feeling.

I used to have a much more expensive negative ion generator (1000$), and this one is just so much better than it... you can actually feel it working, and feel the difference it makes in the room!

It does smell a bit like ozone if you are too close to it, and also the EMF field goes about 4 feet away from it so i suggest you dont have it too close by while you are sleeping. it acts as a gentle white noise generator so i actually sleep much better with this BOTH because of the neg ions and because of the cool white noise... thanks for this amazing product WEIN !

Amazing performance! Quickly clears a room of all allergens.

I've been having massive problems with the seasonal change this year in Houston (its not just me...). I've been through every available OTC med and combinations of them, to no avail. Sudafed (psuedoephadrine) is the only thing that helps me. I used to have a baby-size system like this that I used to use back in Australia, so I knew what I was looking for.

I have a back room, where my dogs "live". This room has been causing me no end of allergy problems. Turned on this beauty and walked back an hour later, and nothing. No itchy eyes. No scratchy feeling at the back of my throat. No faucet where my nose should be!!!

I found that this unit is more than powerful enough for my house. I just run it a few hours in each room and vacuum afterwards to clean up any dust on the floor. Then move it to the next room. My life feels so much better no!

I bought this after I tested positive for mold allergies. I don't know if it really helps with mold but I can tell a difference in the way the air smells if I place it in the basement for a couple of days. I have no way of telling how it compares to the other devices but my sister bought the sharper image one and loves it as well. Hers collects black stuff on the plates were this one only collects dust on the front pad.

I am sorry to say that after less than one month, two of the four units I purchased have stopped working. The ionizing wand has stopped producing any air current at all. I wrote to the company about the first one when it broke, and they said I should return it for "repair or replacement". I think if it is broken after only one month, repair is out of the question; replacement would be the only option. Then this morning, a second unit stopped functioning. These units are not in "high pollution" areas--one is in my office and one in my bedroom. Very sad, because when they were working, it was the best three weeks I've had in terms of air quality. But that comes to about 40 dollars per week--not acceptable! I will update this review as I get more information, but at present, caveat emptor.

Was hoping this ionizer would freshen up things a bit without emitting harmful ozone. For first two days of operation I noticed smell but wasn't concerned as I thought this was the "fresh air" phenomena. But after hours of internet searching I determined that this smell was ozone due to the hint of chlorine. Several more days later, the room that I put it in started to smell like ozone. Also, my girlfriend has woken up with headaches while machine has been in operation.

Wand also appears to no longer give off the same amount of "ionic breeze" as it did when first plugged in.
