I couldn't put it down,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Weird Club: The Search for the Jersey Devil (Hardcover)
I am a third grader and I thought the book was such a fun book to read. It was kind of scary and had lots of interesting stories in it. I am telling all my friends to read it - its a great book!

Not a bad start for the Weird Club,

The story itself is simple. Mark starts a new club called the Weird Club so he can share is love of Weirdness with others. The book starts off with the club looking into the Jersey Devil mystery along with Mark's grandfather, who happens to live next to the Pine Barrens. The book is slow. My 13 year old son read it in one day and realted that he was hoping for more of a Hardy Boys/Three Investigators type story with mystery and action. It would have been nice to see Mark get first hand experience of the Jersey Devil instead of his grandfather. The story could have had alot more to it in my opinon. It did have little tid bits of information about other weird stuff around the country courtesy of Mark's online penpals. Well hopfully the next book with pick up on a more suspensful story. All and all not a bad start for the Weird Club.

Great, But Where's the Series?,

My 9 year old was very excited about this book and could hardly put it down. He especially loved all the strange but true tidbits, and the occasional photo helped hold interest, I'm sure. The problem? This book is touted as the first in a series for the "Weird Club",but it's been almost a year and no follow-up. He was ready to read more ASAP -- and disappointed to have to wait. But now, what's the deal? Who publishes a book as part of a new series, and isn't set to go to press with the second one, at least, right on its heels?
