4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Bill Nelson
More bang for the buck than any other artist I know of. "The Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters' alone is worth the price, but there are 6-8 other equally good tunes on here as well

3.0 out of 5 stars No new surprises...but Bill Nelson still is interesting
I bought this kind of knowing many things would sound like his past works. This isn't bad and isn't great at the same time. The idea of someone with his talent playing with things that interest him and getting a peek, is part of the joy. There are just some, overused weak points that come a bit through in this recording for me, maybe because I have heard so many of these...

I bought this kind of knowing many things would sound like his past works. This isn't bad and isn't great at the same time. The idea of someone with his talent playing with things that interest him and getting a peek, is part of the joy. There are just some, overused weak points that come a bit through in this recording for me, maybe because I have heard so many of these other side projects of his. Mr. Nelsons guitar work burns in all the good ways, yet the drumming (drum machines) fall back on the usually cliche patterns. He needs to venture into different time signatures and patterns to keep things interesting. I understand what this CD is of though....its quickly done and kind of a scrap book and not meant to be 100% perfect. Just lose sketches.

Its an interesting CD. I'm glad I got it. There are other Bill Nelson side projects that I will go to more though because the material has more interesting results. I think Practically Wired (If I'm remember the title right) would be a better starting off point for most people new to him. However if you are here reading this, chances are you already know Bill Nelsons work. Its more the same, but in Bills case thats not a bad thing. I debated on giving that 4th star but I'm not sure it was because respect for this project or Bill Nelson I was rating. Hey I liked the cover too.

He's a great way overlooked guitar player. He also plays every instrument. Its fun.
