This book is part travel companion, part history lesson, part urban legend and all very entertaining. Weird Hollywood covers bizarre deaths, unsolved mysteries, interesting architecture, and a cast of characters (both well-known and obscure) who have called L.A. their home.
Keep it on your coffee table - guests will be magnetically compelled to leaf through the pages.

Looking forward to a sequel.

I totally love this series and like this entry, but I found it somewhat lacking in comparison to the others in the series. While it covered a lot of interesting places, I could have done without some of the people/characters profiled and there were plenty of places and things that were missing. The LA area is incredibly diverse and entire books have been devoted to Angelenos and their architecture, culture, and oddball places. I found this book interesting, but not completely satisfying. I think the problem may have been mine since I set my expectations way too high. With a title such as Weird Hollywood, it just probably wasn't as much weird and odd as I would have liked. Still this is a cool book and worth reading. It can be used as an intro to other more specific books about Hollyweird.

I really enjoyed the book I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading about mysteries & the events in old Hollywood. A lot of the things happened before my time so it was interesting to found out some of the legends. I had read about Lana Turner in her own book she wrote. It was amazing what they Did to some actors and how the news people had the power to destroy someone's career. Just like now a days.
