When Confucius said, "A picture is worth a thousand words," this was the book he had in mind. Words just cannot do it justice. WEIRD ROOMS is not your mom's coffee table book. It is a collection of photos of truly obsessed collectors "at home" with their collections, accompanied by brief interviews in which the subjects talk about their collections, how they started, and how they developed into the remarkable assemblages of items displayed here. From toys to shoes to faux fruit to the Man of a Thousand (Smiley) Faces, to a "spaceship" cockpit constructed from 23 old computers and 4,000 rolls of duct tape, WEIRD ROOMS has something for everyone. I know it made *me* feel better about all those sheep in my living room!

I loved this book! There is a part of me (the flamingo and fishing frog part) that understands the urge to surround yourself with interesting things that other people find slightly (or completely) weird, but some of these people are beyond even my ability to grasp. The pictures are fascinating -- kind of like looking at a car crash. Buy this book!! You won't be sorry.

The rooms featured in this book are amusing to look at, but more interesting are the essays written by the people behind the rooms. One man painted the walls of a guest room to appear as if you're inside a bird cage with an enormous malevolent cat staring down at you. If you find this intriguing, buy the book! Makes a great gift.
