Product Description

The Wej-It Wej-Con concrete screw cuts threads into concrete, hollow block, brick, mortar, and concrete masonry units (CMUs) to provide a secure hold without requiring threaded inserts. The anchor is made of 1022 carbon steel for strength and has a corrosion-resistant blue R-Blocker coating that meets American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) B117 standards to resist 1,000 hours of salt spray. The flat head is cone shaped for use in countersunk holes and has a flat top that fits flush with the mated surface. The Phillips drive has an x-shaped slot that accepts a Phillips driver and is designed to allow the driver to slip out of the head to help prevent over-tightening and damage to the thread or fastener.

The twin-lead threads and the fully threaded point cut into the mounting material to secure the screw placement and resist pull-out. The screw includes a drill bit to create the correct size hole for installation. The screw can be removed and reinstalled into the same hole to enable fixture changes or screw replacement.

Concrete screws are threaded fasteners that install into hard, brittle materials such as concrete, brick, and block to securely fasten a fixture. These screws have hardened threads that cut into the sides of a drilled hole to secure their placement in the material.

Wej-It Fastening Systems manufactures mechanical and adhesive fasteners for use in concrete and drywall. The company, founded more than 60 years ago, is headquartered in Norwalk, CT.

After breaking other screws, or having them not grip concrete well, these really work. I needed 4" screws to hold 1/2 treated plywood to cover 2" rigid foam that surrounds the foundation of my garage. Appropriate screws were impossible to find in any of the big-box hardware stores, and prohibitively expensive in the specialty shops. These were shipped quickly and were reasonably priced. An unexpected bonus was the concrete drill bit that was packaged with the screws. My only complaint is that the old school Phillips head is just not robust enough for the massive torque required to drive the heads flush with the plywood. Expect to strip heads and break bits frequently. Also, expect sore wrists if using a powerful driver. I recommend using an impact driver to set these.
