@M.B Yeah I can agree DRM can be pretty downright annoying if implemented incorrectly. Although I loved the beta and well I only got an hour in cause I didn't know that the beta stopped at the 28th, oh well at least it was fun and I'm getting the deluxe version. :]
Actually, in addition to the online only, no god mode b*tch... having seen a bit more of SimVillage I am underwhelmed by the scope of the thing. I have been to bigger college campus' than the space given for your villag... er *city*. Pretty. But then so are Polly Pockets.
Oh, yeah, it was right there (dur). LoneGunmanWASD. I might be online actually since I'm trying out the Crysis 3 beta which, by the way, is also an EA game that, if you don't report a bug you run into, they plan on banning you from all EA games. I guess someone in legal didn't get around to updating that EULA...or EA hoped no one would notice (and so far, no one's made a stink so I guess the only ones checking the EULAs are SimCity players :) ).
@Grieger: Oh I see, you should be able to add me when you get home and I just got onto the Crysis 3 beta on my 360. it has crashed twice with my Clan group playing during a migration. I like Cry3 but I wonder if it will lack the extra weapons that I expected from Cry2 to have, but did not. So far there is alien tech laying about, a giant Mech which is fun, and I absolutely LOVED the new Hunter mode!
Funny but I never ended up playing Crysis 2. Just had a lot of other things to do. :) But, yeah, the beta's so far been interesting. I like the "Aliens" like Hunter mode (sort of what colonial marine should have been like). Some things are odd to me though. For instance, what's the point of a sniper with a ghillie suit if the hunters can see them on radar all the time? I guess they could pull off cross-map snipes but I got a sniper last night because I just could walk up to his hiding spot (from above) and kill him. He couldn't see me but he was clear as day on my radar. I think Hunter needs a Hardcore mode or something. Maybe the only visual cue for a sniper is the scope reflection or something.
The mech was fun to run around in but of course, someone can just jump on top and pull you out. I've got to try the beta drivers from nvidia for tonight's session. Every time I fire the game hiccups for a sec throwing my aim off. I end up firing off to someone's left or right giving away my position...died so many times because of that.
Oh, and don't forget...same beta EULA so if you don't report bugs you're gonna get banned from EA. :)
Hey everyone! Please see this link and several comments about the EA servers. While I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, it's not in OUR best interest to support EA games until they release SimCity 5 WITHOUT the on-line requirement! It appears their servers are often down and that customer service sucks. Again, they'll have our money. What do they care.
I found two email addresses - if anyone finds more personalized email address, please post but at least for now let's spread the word and bombard EA Games with this info and let them know we will NOT buy SC5 until they remove the on-line requirement! I would cut and paste this info, plus these Amazon postings links so they'll know we are aware of their lack of customer support and server issues and spreading the word. Post this info everywhere you can. Thanks!
Servers Never work Every time i go to play on Medal of Honor or Battlefield 1943 online, the servers seem to be "not currently available" most of the time, now i have never had this problem before when i was playing non EA Games online. Please get this issue sorted!!!...
pathetic customer support I bought battlefield bad company 2 from EA games. After 2 weeks of not being able to play online due to an error which was their fault I decided to contact them. I spoke to around 8 different customer support employee's for around 14 hours in total, they told me the problem was Microsofts...
Battlefield Bad Company 2 Since purchasing this game I am unable to play online for more that around 4 to 10 minutes without getting dropped off and then having the following error "Connection to game server has been lost" All attempts to get support from EA support have failed with just getting scripted...
Bad customer service I have logged a problem on EA Gaming website, being unable to download a game that I have purchase with the download program through a proxy. It is now a 36 hours later and I still have not had any response!...

i will buy simcity, but if they deliver poorly on server support and customer support, I will not be buying anymore EA future games with DRM-ONLY. With that said, it doesn't mean I support online only on the upcoming simcity 2013.
I backed out of my preorder. You don't control your land, or water, and no cheats. The online only does away with any control you may have over the city. Also when they get sick of supporting it the servers turn off and you have no game. It creates a world where the rest of the world effects yours, guess what? we have that already, its called real life. EA destroyed a fun game.
"Video game publisher Electronic Arts Inc reported lower revenue for the third quarter as the video game industry continued to struggle with flagging sales and experienced a weak holiday quarter." http://news.yahoo.com/electronic-arts-revenue-dropped-third-quarter-221109218--sector.html
No? Really? Go figure? I of course snarked a comment. "EA's revenue is going to drop a lot more when they release SimCity 2013. It is NOT what the SimCity fans want. They took a widely popular single player god mode game and crammed an online line only and multiplayer requirement on it."
