A fun and educational book for Blues Clues fans, March 26, 2000
This review is from: Welcome To Blue's Clues (A Lift-the-Flap Book) (Board book)
My two boys love this book and usually read it every day. It has over 50 flaps for the children to lift up and play a game of Blues Clues along with Steve, Blue and their friends. I think it keeps the kids interest because it allows them to think as they read along. The book is full of educational references to numbers, letters and telling time. My 2-year-old reads this book and then refers to objects around the house that he has read about and learned. I love this book and it has made my children very happy.

good book with some flap issues, June 30, 2001
This review is from: Welcome To Blue's Clues (A Lift-the-Flap Book) (Board book)
The Blue's Clues team seems to really like kids, and that comes through in this lift-the-flap version of a Blue's Clues puzzle. There are five two-page spreads and the text indicates that you are, indeed, trying to "figure out where Blue wants to go today". You start outside the house, go to the living room, bedroom, kitchen and finally Blue's school. Along the way you see all of the favorite characters -- Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper, Mailbox, Sidetable Drawer, Shovel & Pail, etc. This is a great book for any child who enjoys Blue and Steve's universe. The flaps are "punched" so they are still held in place by small bits of cardboard -- it might be a good idea for an adult to go through and unhinge the flaps before giving it to a young child or they will grow frustrated and probably bend some of the flaps; also, the flaps are made of thin cardboard, so they will rip off easily if your child tends to indulge in such behavior :-) What is nice about this book is that, similar to the television show, there is some purpose to it. The design has more intelligence to it than usual. Plus they're all so sweet! A winner.

Great for Blue fans--just wish the flaps weren't so flimsy!, August 12, 2001

I bought this for my 19-month-old son because it combines two of his favorite things: Blue's Clues and flap books. We have three other flap books, and he is admittedly hard on them. However, the cardboard on this book is especially easy to bend. I have to bite my tongue when he gets overly enthusiastic...after all, it *is* his book and I want him to enjoy reading, not be admonished for relishing the flaps! But while most of them are now lovingly bent (making the book kind of "puffy" when closed), he has not ripped them off. I have gotten over it, but if you're one to get "bent out of shape" over bent-out-of-shape flaps, this might not be the best choice. On a more positive note, he loves the pictures. The colors are trademark bright, and the hide-and-finds are clever. I like the positive message that Blue's favorite place is school, too. Despite the "flap" flap, I'm considering the purchase of the birthday flap book simply because he loves this one so much!
