A fun and educational book for Blues Clues fans,
By Heather Dusseau (Toledo, Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Welcome To Blue's Clues (A Lift-the-Flap Book) (Board book)
My two boys love this book and usually read it every day. It has over 50 flaps for the children to lift up and play a game of Blues Clues along with Steve, Blue and their friends. I think it keeps the kids interest because it allows them to think as they read along. The book is full of educational references to numbers, letters and telling time. My 2-year-old reads this book and then refers to objects around the house that he has read about and learned. I love this book and it has made my children very happy.

Great for Blue fans--just wish the flaps weren't so flimsy!,

I bought this for my 19-month-old son because it combines two of his favorite things: Blue's Clues and flap books. We have three other flap books, and he is admittedly hard on them. However, the cardboard on this book is especially easy to bend. I have to bite my tongue when he gets overly enthusiastic...after all, it *is* his book and I want him to enjoy reading, not be admonished for relishing the flaps! But while most of them are now lovingly bent (making the book kind of "puffy" when closed), he has not ripped them off. I have gotten over it, but if you're one to get "bent out of shape" over bent-out-of-shape flaps, this might not be the best choice. On a more positive note, he loves the pictures. The colors are trademark bright, and the hide-and-finds are clever. I like the positive message that Blue's favorite place is school, too. Despite the "flap" flap, I'm considering the purchase of the birthday flap book simply because he loves this one so much!

The Blue's Clues team seems to really like kids, and that comes through in this lift-the-flap version of a Blue's Clues puzzle. There are five two-page spreads and the text indicates that you are, indeed, trying to "figure out where Blue wants to go today". You start outside the house, go to the living room, bedroom, kitchen and finally Blue's school. Along the way you see all of the favorite characters -- Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper, Mailbox, Sidetable Drawer, Shovel & Pail, etc. This is a great book for any child who enjoys Blue and Steve's universe. The flaps are "punched" so they are still held in place by small bits of cardboard -- it might be a good idea for an adult to go through and unhinge the flaps before giving it to a young child or they will grow frustrated and probably bend some of the flaps; also, the flaps are made of thin cardboard, so they will rip off easily if your child tends to indulge in such behavior :-) What is nice about this book is that, similar to the television show, there is some purpose to it. The design has more intelligence to it than usual. Plus they're all so sweet! A winner.

Fun, full of surprises.,

My two sons love this book. They are 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 and they both get a lot of fun out of this book. My two year old loves to lift the flaps to see who is under them, while the 3 year old knows who is under them and it brings out his imagination! He tries to tell me the story. It's great for both ages. They both learn from the book. I recommended it to everyone. It's good, sturdy quality will last for a long time. It was worth the money.

Great Book...Careful with the Flaps,

This book is great; my 22 month old loves it. I bought this book for her because she can't get enough of Blue. This book is perfect. It has vibrant colors and the great story lines Blue's Clues is known for. However, the flaps are a bit delicate. The other hard covered Blue books I have bought with flaps have been much sturdier. Overall my daughter loves this book so as this book wears down the scotch tape will have to manage to keep it together.

This has been my 2 year old's favorite book since she was 10 months old. Seeing all her friends from Blue's Clues makes it interesting, and the colors are bold and the illustrations just like the show. The jillions of flaps are just what my curious girl needs. Many of the flaps are bent or missing now, but I plan to just buy a new one when it gets too beat up. It's a very large book though, can be hard to tote around when your on outings or trips.

Although the book itself is entertaining, the flaps are made of a flimsy cardboard material.Needless to say, it took my 2 year old son all of 10 minutes to rip some off as he tried to pick up the book, while holding an open flap.

For those who care, this one features Steve. It's also very big.
Like all flap books, an adult should 'prep' the flaps before handing the book over. My 2-year-old son loves this book, although he has ripped out a couple of the flaps, and doesn't quite get the point of some. It also has some cues for adult participation: for example, when you open the flap with Blue's ball behind it, on the back of the flap it says "Now can you find Blue?" - although this is somewhat circular since the flap with Blue asks to find Blue's ball.

Favorite Book of My 16-Month Old Grandson,

This review is from: Welcome To Blue's Clues (A Lift-the-Flap Book) (Board book)
Bought this book for my 16-month old grandson and he was facinated from the beginning. Loved the tabs that lift up and finding the pictures underneath. My daughter put it away for a few days and pulled it out as her "secret weapon" for a recent plane trip! I can highly recommend this book.

Our 2 year old LOVES this book and reads it every day. It has over 50 flaps for children to lift up and play a game of Blues Clues along with Blue and the gang. Probably not our daughters absolute favorite (see our other Blues reviews) but she has fun with it still the same. It does hold her interest because of the flaps and interactivity of this book and starts to teach kids numbers, letters and time. We love all the Blues clues books and personally we think this book is the best one available because of the educational purposes and lets kids relate to objects in the book and then the same objects around the home, oh, and our daughter loves it too :o)
