5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums I've listened to this year
"Welcome to the Fall" by 32 Leaves is a great album. I'm very pleased with it and glad that I decided to buy it after hearing these guys on PureVolume. I would have never heard of them if it hadn't been for their homepage spot on PureVolume that made me click on them and have a listen. Kudos to the band for having the entire album up on PureVolume available for preview...

3.0 out of 5 stars 32 Leaves embrace the moodiness of the fall on their Doubleblind debut
(...)

32 Leaves do straddle the line between radio-rock darlings and brainy rock band, but both aspects are considerately balanced. In turn, with a sense of humble charm and a wide-eyed outlook, the music they craft is often both vast and down to earth in the same instance.

With a sound that can recall the likes of Oceansize, 30 Seconds To Mars...

"Welcome to the Fall" by 32 Leaves is a great album. I'm very pleased with it and glad that I decided to buy it after hearing these guys on PureVolume. I would have never heard of them if it hadn't been for their homepage spot on PureVolume that made me click on them and have a listen. Kudos to the band for having the entire album up on PureVolume available for preview through streaming so that you could really see what you were getting. To me that displays some confidence in their material, which they should rightly have. It's true, these guys do sound quite a bit like a few different bands at different times (A Perfect Circle, Ra, Deftones, to name a few) but they do have a sound of their own. I was a bit disappointed that when i received the CD there was a sticker on the front announcing "For Fans of A Perfect Circle, Deftones and Failure". I made the conclusion that these guys did have some familiarities to those bands which I love before I got the sticker, but I thought it was kind of wrong to bias the new listener into thinking these guys are another knockoff of APC or Deftones, because they most certainly aren't. I will admit though that they do have many similarities to APC (vocals and bass lines most notably). The songs on this album are quite diverse yet meld together nicely to form an ambient mixture of progressive and alternative rock music. Most of the songs on the album (with the exception of the last one) contain fast, driving rhythms behind some great vocals. This album is also very accesible : I found myself singing along to many of the songs on the first listen and after many listens have even found myself obliged to have this on as background music while driving or studying, even when I wasn't fully paying attention. Overall, if you do like A Perfect Circle you will most likely like 32 Leaves as well as long as you listen to them with an open mind and aren't trying to compare the two bands because they are both different in their own ways. Pick up this album if you want to hear some good rock music from a rising band.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice contrast, especially with the Vocals!, May 3, 2006

In a music scene that seems flooded with nonstop screaming over melodicism in the vocal department, it is a breath of fresh air to hear a band like 32 Leaves. The music is heavy but with a definite emphasis on cleaner vocals from singer Greg Norris, which I feel tends to give the music a more diverse approach. Don't get me wrong, I'm also a fan of many bands that utilize "screaming" or "hardcore vocals" but sometimes it's nice to hear it intersperced with some melodic deliveries. The best tracks to demonstrate 32 Leaves' overall sound would probably be either Blood On My Hands or All Is Numb. The only problem with this album is that they are relatively unknown and the distribution of the album is poor, so your best bet is to order it online. I would definitly recommend it to anyone looking for heavy, melodic hard rock!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD, February 4, 2007

This music is great. I got into this band directly after my Allele phase. I still like both bands a lot though my mood will depend on which I want to mellow out to.

In a day in age where there are so many manufactured rock bands this is truely a GREAT breath of fresh air. Theese guys are very well versed musicians that arent afraid to show it. The entire album is loaded with killer songs that should have you just as captivated as I was. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy, you only live once, might as well listen to good music while your at it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Positive Raw Force- 32 Leaves Rock!!!, March 6, 2006
This review is from: Welcome to the Fall (Audio CD)
When i first heard 32 Leaves, it was on the compiltion UN KNOWN vol 1 and i was completly floored. Ive been looking forward to their cd since then.
Listening to this cd is to me one of the most uplifting hard rock experience i have had in a long time. the raw emotion that pours out of the speakers is a force to be reckoned with. The twists and turns of the dual guitar work
My favorite tracks are; All is Numb, Wide Awake, Watching You Disappear, but really all the tracks are sick. A beautifully put together album.

Actually, the rock/metal descriptor might be a touch deceptive. Basically, this band takes a page from "10 Years", one of my all time favorite bands. Many of their songs aren't heavy at all (at least where distortion is concerned) and there is a definite focus on songwriting. While not as good as 10 Years in my opinion, they are worthy of a listening, and i jam then with some regularity. Let's just call this style a sub genre of nu-metal for ease of categorization (assuming one doesnt already exist). Not quite rock, not quite metal, not quite emo...but quite good.

After hearing the song "All Is Numb", I purchased this album on a whim. I'd have to say that was one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. This CD just rocks. It's so catchy that many of the songs on this album will likely be stuck in your head for days to come after listening to this CD. My favorite tracks were: "All Is Numb", "Blood On My Hands" and "Never Even There". I also highly recommend checking out their 2009 release Panoramic (which can be bought on the band's Myspace).

In short, this is one of the better rock CD's out there, so what are you waiting for? Buy it!

This is an odd album for me. After listening all the way through numerous times already, none of the songs really stand out as clear favorites. I would almost say that many the songs sound a bit the same to some degree. Even still, I just love to jam out to these tunes!
