Simplistic, touching and perfectly sung,
By Lawrence Ryan (Kansas City, Missouri United States) - See all my reviews

I first heard Fernando Ortega when he collaberated with John Andrew Schreiner on one of the "One Voice" series that John had been producing.Fernando stood out like a beautiful gift. I knew right then that we would be hearing more from him. His music is fresh......deep and very personal to listen to. I Love his music, and I consider myself a fan owning all of Fernando's music on Cd now. I recommend all of Fernando Cd's, however........"The Breaking of the Dawn" and "In a Welcome Field" are the two to start with.

Welcome This,

I am a true Fernando Ortega fan. I will admit that IN A WELCOME FIELD is not as exhilarating as Ortega's previous projects, THIS BRIGHT HOUR, and the BREAKING OF THE DAWN, but IN A WELCOME FIELD is still a great work -- certainly worthy of your money and attention. I would without hesitation recommend IN A WELCOME FIELD to anyone who values quality music with a timeless message.

Another inspiring Fernando Ortega CD,
By

Fernando Ortega is a multi-talented musician. In this CD he arranges some of the songs, writes the words to others, and writes both words and music for yet some others. His songs are often contemplative such as "Chimayo" where he considers the seasons of life and "Till I Reach My Home" where he celebrates God's presence and support in the trials of his life. Other especially memorable and touching songs include "Through the Fire", "Father of My Heart", and "Into the Morning". I took away one star because of the somewhat discordant "Walking on the Water", but all in all, this is an excellent CD.

Best Ever,

This album is the BEST Fernando has ever done. Get it while you can. It was out of print for a long time and I had to actually research and find his church to get a copy! There is not ONE song on this album that is not a stand-alone classic. The melodies are awesome and the orchestration is so simple and beautiful.

I got this CD for my son - one day in a store parking lot he started singing one song 'Lord, I want to be [a Christian] in my heart...' This CD is a blessing - Mr. Ortega is a wonderful artist and easy to listen to.

This review is from: In a Welcome Field (Audio CD)
Fernando has the most soothing medatative voice I have ever heard and I am very glad his first album has been rereleased. Want his best work ever? This album is it. Every tune is incredible, moving, and captures Fernando at his best. I had to scour the internet for this out-of-print CD, but here it is again! Don't miss this one.

I love the music of Fernando Ortega, and of all his CDs, I personally think this is in the top three. This is one that I return to again and again while reading, or any other time I need a moment of quiet reflection.
