5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Goose Creek is back!
I had this album on LP back in the 1970's and have waited over 25 years to see it on CD. A great combination of folk, country and ronk-n-roll. Heart warming music. Timeless.

3.0 out of 5 stars the goose was cooked
I was trippin' on LSD when I saw these guys in concert. I liked them, at the time. I was DJ'ing at WBUS in Miami so I gave the disc a spin. The phones immediately lit up with callers threatening to burn down the station. But these hillbillies gave it a good whirl

5.0 out of 5 stars Catch 'em live if you can..., December 8, 2000
This review is from: Welcome to Goose Creek (Audio CD)
For those of you who have never heard Goose Creek here's the idea: 1 part bluegrass, 1 part country, 1 part ROCK and stir with a pinch of ELO, Pink Floyd, ... you choose. Get either Welcome to Goose Creek or Words of Ernest (then you'll probably want the others). The real trick is seeing them live... they play small venues throughout the southeast, etc. There is simply NOTHING like a Goose Creek show attended by a few thousand dedicated GooseHeads. I've seen lots of bands live - the Goose is one of the few I've seen multiple times (and eagerly await the next).

I too owned this album, twice, back in the seventies. The "GCS" have a unique sound and composing style, much like the Kentucky Headhunters. It has a little "COUNTRY", a little "HEAVY METAL" and a BIT of "ROCK 'n Roll". Fun Listening, that IS DIFFERENT.

The boys from Goose Creek know what life is all about! The music keeps me in touch with what's really important, family, friends, country living,& simple things. Charlie & the Goose Creek Gang have been inspiring me since 1978 when I first heard them. If one wants to go back to the country, this is a must.

Goose Creek Symphony is like no other country-rock band. There's none of the L.A. pretension of the late-model Byrds or Flying Burrito Brothers or West. When approaching Goose Creek you think more in terms of The Band, mostly because the lead singer has the same Ozark drawl as Levon Helm, but their Americana imagery is colored with a communal hippie vibe that keeps the music from becoming maudlin as it often did with The Band. These Arizona hippies, circa 1971-72, sound like they all lived together in a farmhouse, just smoking pot and playing music all day long. It was the times. Getting back to the land and all that. Highlights on this, their sophomore disc, is the beautiful "Miana And Me" and the psychedelic "The Corn Won't Grow, So Rock N' Roll", an over-long jam that features trippy phasing juxtaposed against a jaw harp. But the real killer here is "Back Home," just about the most beautiful acid ode to rural living that I've ever heard. You should not go through your life without experiencing that song. It's that good. This band would improve its musicality many times over by their third LP, "Words Of Ernest," but this is album is so valuable for the songs mentioned above. Highly recommended. Another "must-have". The GD Guy

I saw these guys 3 or 4 times around '71 and '72. They can tear down the house. I NEVER heard anybody that had the unique blend of styles that they did. Kinda bluegrasss and lot of rock.

What a great band!

I was at the 2nd Atlanta Pop Festival, in Bremen, Ga. The Allman Bros opened & closed it. Lotsa really good music; Mountain tore the place up one night. Thing that got me tho, was camping in the pecan groves & waking up to Goosecreek Symphony at least two mornings. They put a glow on your day, fur sure.

Ready for a little "corn fed" rock and roll? Goose Creek Symphony will take you on a musical journey that will speak to your soul. They've been around for 35 years now and gettin' better all the time. This is their second album recorded over 30 years ago and it gets newer every time I listen.

Goose Creek Symphony is a phenomenal band, and the incarnation that is out there tearing up venues across the southeast now is the best ever, I swear! The unmissable gig this summer will be Goose On The Lake June 5, an outdoor festival that's also got Bonepony playing. Check out the website, goosecreeksymphony.com for details.

This summer you owe it to yourself to GET GOOSED.
