5.0 out of 5 stars Well orchestrated showcase of talent., August 2, 2004
This review is from: Welcome to Hollywood (Bonus Dvd) (Audio CD)
Glen Burtnik is a talented artist who has
written number 1 hits for Patty Smyth and Randy Travis.
He has released solo albums along the way, which are
now hard to find. Glen worked with Styx for many years,
first as a replacement for Tommy Shaw on vocals and guitar,
and then returning later as a replacement on bass for Chuck
Panozzo. This CD showcases Glen's talents as a songwriter,
musician, and producer. It combines hard rock, balads, power balads, punk rock and rap. I especially like the punk sounding Kiss Your Ass Goodbye and the 90's sounding Roses.
Buy this CD and DVD. You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wecome Back Glen!, July 5, 2005
This review is from: Welcome to Hollywood (Audio CD)
I thought that there would never be one of Glen's Musical delights that I would cherish as I do Palookaville- and yet I am finding hard to stay away from Welcome to Hollywood. I am spending much more time with my computer lately (with headphones on), pretending to "work" just so I can spend a few private moments with one of the very best! (oh, musicians....)
I love "Cry" and "Roses", but it is "Another" that actually brought tears to my eyes the first time I heard it. I can listen to every song over and over without ever becoming tired of it. I am glad that Glen is in this world, making it a better place. I miss hearing his melodious contributions to Styx, but I think that he is better on his own. BUY THIS CD!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of this year's best, December 15, 2004

This review is from: Welcome to Hollywood (Bonus Dvd) (Audio CD)
One of my favorite (if not THE favorite) new release of the year comes towards the end, with "Welcome to Hollywood." I owe all of Glen's previous, moderately enjoyable and solid releases... but this time he really steps out and raises the bar. He has gone from some very safe and straight-forward pop tunes, into a very edgy, incredibly polished and well-produced new direction. It's as if after leaving STyx for the second time, he's gone into a creative cocoon and stepped out with something new to show. There's some just plain great tunes on this CD, and not a weak one to speak of. Well-rounded and enjoyable from beginning to end!

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!, September 19, 2004
This review is from: Welcome to Hollywood (Bonus Dvd) (Audio CD)
The above is the best and only word I can think of to describe this true masterpeice. This is one of the best, if not the best CD's I have ever heard. 'Superboy' starts off this CD and from the beginning Glen will have you hooked. It's a busy hard rocking awesome tune. After that comes 'the 101' which is an intro leading into the excellent title track. 'Another' follows, and may be one of the best ballads you will ever hear. The lyrics are touching and the song is just plain unreal, and fantastic. What follows Another is the best track on the CD 'Bam'. 'Bam' reminds me of Tom Petty's Last Dance With Mary Jane, only it is much much better. This song would be a number 1 hit if only it could get heard by the masses. Its is one of those songs that has few equals. 'Bam' leads perfectly into a song called 'Kiss Your Ass Goodbye'. This is another AWESOME song. It kind of reminds me of a cross between Blink 182, The Cars,& The Knack. It's modern, lyrically great, and another incredible song. At this point I always go back to track 1 and start this musically superior adventure all over again. The rest of the CD is great, highlighted by 'All Thats Yet To Come', and 'Cry'. Their are no negatives to this CD. Its some of the BEST music I have ever heard. Its a must for your collection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
