Come Home Christian.......Quickly,
By A Former Fallen Away Catholic (Alexandria, Va United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Welcome Home!: Fallen Away Catholics Who Came Back (Paperback)
If you haven't researched the Catholic Faith, you must do so now. The evidence is overwhelming. Stories from Fallen Away Catholics prove that life away from God's Church can alone cause confusion and destruction. Hear how cradle Catholics and Converts both dig into the Scriptures and Church Tradition to find the truth that lead them to Rome. Read for yourself and be ready to be welcomed home by our Lord Jesus Christ. You will never feel the same again. A great read. I also recommend Suprised by the Truth I, II, and II by Madrid. Enjoy and Come Home.

Some roller-coaster lives,

This review is from: Welcome Home!: Fallen Away Catholics Who Came Back (Paperback)
This was an interesting book even if just to read some of the many ups and downs some people make in their quest to find their place before God in this life. It was a great book and will point out only one flaw. As a lifelong Catholic who has not had so many ups and downs in his life of faith, I noticed a small item on page 306. In summarizing the procedures for Confession, it advises the person to begin with the phrase, "Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned." While there is some ambiguity in who is meant by "Father", the simplest, most direct interpretation is that the person is addressing the priest who is hearing the Confession. It is my understanding that the correct expression would be "Bless me, Father, for I have sinned." Seems like a small point but many object to Confession for the very reason that they think we are confessing our sins to the priest. This is not the case. He is an intermediary, albeit a very necessary and important one, and an advisor. However, we are asking GOD to forgive us. It is not important that the priest do so. Sorry for the nitpick about an otherwise great book.

Not only are the stories inspiring, but the Examination of Conscience at the end of the book is one of the best I have ever seen. You can preview parts of it on the Amazon Reader.
