5.0 out of 5 stars Why have they never released this on DVD?, April 8, 2011

This film reached right into my heart and actually made me cry. I have loved it ever since I first saw it, and I purchased it in VHS format, which I generally seek to avoid as DVD's are so much more convenient.
It has also been a source of great frustration, as there is a song, a soulful ballad, sung by Willie Nelson, which through years of searching I have never been able to find in a format for purchase, and as I remember was penned by Henry Mancini, that I would simply die to have in my collection. I have found many fans of this film over the years that share my pain.
This film is about reconnection and redemtion, and most importantly, the power of love. It is set in the aftermath of Vietnam and is all about healing. I cannot give this fil a higher reccomendation.
(and for heaven's sake will someone in power please release that song, or convince Willie Nelson to include it on a cd.)

I have watched this multiple times and I enjoy it every time I watch it. There is nothing like a military homecoming to moisten the eyes and make you understand what is important.
