In the sacred and honorable tradition of "The Onion" comes a hilarious and outrageous collection of "church newsletters" that gleefully skewer America's religious right.

Open Mindedness,
This review is from: Welcome to JesusLand! (Formerly the United States of America): Shocking Tales of Depravity, Sex, and Sin Uncovered by God's Favorite Church, Landover Baptist (Paperback)
I am a Christian. Hands down, I will never back down from my faith. However, there are a lot of people out there who claim Christianity yet, live a life totally different from Christ. Being a conservative Christian does not work. We cannot point fingers and label people as "sinner," all that does is push them away and give them a reason to write a book such as this one. I have had many bad run-ins with the Baptist church. Honestly, this book is pretty dead on with some of my experiences. I am a ministry leader but I am constantly around those who the traditional church turns its back on. So in summary:
To the Christians: stop complaining about this book. You probably caused this to happen and are just angry because you see yourself within it. Go read a book called unChristian by David Kinneman.. maybe it will change your perceptions. To those who support this book: good job, someone has to take a stand against right winged Baptist Nazis.

I've been an athiest for 10 years. I bought this book 2 weeks ago, and read it from cover to cover the first night!! I have now accepted Jesus as my personal Lord & savior thanks to Pastor Deacon Fred and Brother Harry Hardwick's tear jerking sermons.
My son, who is 14, took up the offer on page 3 to "Accept Jesus Christ as Your Personal Lord and Savior and Get a Free Playstation 3" promotion. He has been enjoying his Playstation, and his new friendship with Jesus, ever since. Anyone wishing to get to know God on a much more personal basis should buy this book. I was so excited, I bought 5 more copies to give to local libraries, so generations to come can learn the TRUE gospel of Jesus Christ. Enjoy.

This review is from: Welcome to JesusLand! (Formerly the United States of America): Shocking Tales of Depravity, Sex, and Sin Uncovered by God's Favorite Church, Landover Baptist (Paperback)
This book is a godsend to a religion that seriously needs a reality check.
Welcome to Jesusland illustrates and frames the practices of extreme Christianity, exposing anti-intellectualism, questionable child brainwashing, failure of pastoral example, delusions of speaking to God, blatant egocentricity, and the excessive trademarking of Christianity (True Christian(TM), Silver Ring Thing(TM), WWJD(TM)). But most of all, this extreme depiction of Christians shows how selectively the Bible gets applied. In sections where you say "But Christians don't do this," you find a passage from the Bible, plain as day. For example, encourage your children to hate you and become a life-long disciple of Jesus while you stone them to death. For Christians reading this review, instead of condemning this book, study it in depth. Learn why people believe these things and take the opportunity to take out the mental trash that has accumulated. However, recommended for those of strong faith and willing to tolerate a little humor at their expense.
